Markets Made A Slight Recovery From Session Low - June 18, 2009

The markets have firmed up a bit after witnessing a sharp sell off today. The significant selling is seen among the Realty, Metal, Power, Capital goods and Consumer Durables stocks. However the sole IT index is bucking the trend today and is trading in positive. Further the negative opening of the European markets also turned down the sentiments. The secondline stocks are also witnessing huge selling pressure in the afternoon trade. The BSE Mid Cap is now trading with a cut of more than 2.5% and the BSE Small Cap index with a loss of more than 3.5%.

The BSE Sensex is now trading below the 14300 mark and the NSE Nifty near the 4300 mark.

The overall market breadth is negative as 433 stocks are advancing while 2119 stocks are declining in BSE.

Sun Pharmaceutical reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading up by (1.64%) at Rs. 1,318 while ACC reported the top loser trading down by (8.43%) at Rs. 756.90.

The BSE Sensex is trading down by 193.03 points at 14,329.81 and the NSE Nifty is trading lower by 84.30 points or (1.94%) at 4,271.85.

The BSE Mid Cap decreased by 132.62 points or (2.64%) to 4,888.45 and the BSE Small Cap fell by 203.93 points or (3.52%) to 5,582.61.

The Realty index is trading with deep cut of 199.55 points or 5.89% at 3,186.95. Losers from this pack are MahindraLife trading lower by 13.16% at Rs249.10 along with HDIL by 10.42% at Rs218.70, Unitech by 9.89% at Rs75.65, Penland by 8.64% at Rs64, Indiabull Real by 6.24% at Rs187.10, Omaxe by 3.60% at Rs97.75, Akruti City by 5% at Rs503.90, Orbitco by 4.99% at Rs173.35, Ansal Infra by 4.78% at Rs57.75 and Anant Raj Inds by 4.48% at Rs99.20.

The Metal index is trading with losses of 531.31 points or 4.71% at 10,757.19. Leading from the losers pack are Jindal Saw trading down by 8.32% at Rs350 followed by JSW Steel by 8.29% at Rs580, Welspun Guj SR by 7.12% at Rs188.50, Ispat Inds by 6.70% at Rs21.60, Tata Steel by 6.35% at Rs390.50, NMDC by 5% at Rs364.20, SAIL by 4.27% at Rs151.40, Gujarat NRE Coke by 4.79% at Rs44.70 and Hind Zinc by 4.29% at Rs598.85.

The most active shares on NSE are Unitech trading at Rs 76.10 with a total traded quantity of 83604538 shares followed by IFCI trading at Rs.50.55 with a total traded quantity of 46757321 shares.

Tata Teleservices is trading up by 1.83% at Rs36.15. Israel based ECI Telecom bagged a $70 mn contract from Tata Teleservices on Wednesday to deliver the fixed-broadband access network across India. ECI has already rolled out the service for Tata Tele in Hyderabad as well as Bangalore, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Vizag, Vijayawada, Surat and Baroda.

The broadband solution of ECI would enable TTSL to offer triple-play services and applications such as IPTV as well as video on demand, high speed broadband internet, VoIP and other bandwidth intensive services.

On the global markets front, the European markets are trading lower as the FTSE 100, DAX and CAC 40 index are trading down (0.45%), (0.35%) and (0.36%) respectively.

Markets Are Still Trading Lower - June 15, 2009

The markets are witnessing huge selling pressure today and are now trading at the day’s low. The selling pressure continued across the board mainly led by the Oil & Gas, Capital Goods, Metal, Auto and IT stocks. The most selling is seen among the frontline indices that led the BSE Sensex drifted below the 15000 mark. The BSE Mid Cap and the BSE Small Cap index are now trading with a loss of more than 1.5% each.

The overall market breadth is negative as 714 stocks are advancing while 1824 stocks are declining in BSE.

Reliance Infra reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading up by (3.05%) at Rs. 1,215 while Sterlite Industries reported the top loser trading down by (7.28%) at Rs. 665.80.

The BSE Sensex is trading down by 326.56 points at 14,911.38 and the NSE Nifty is trading lower by 74.50 points or (1.63%) at 4,508.90.

The BSE Mid Cap decreased by 83.89 points or (1.60%) to 5,151.14 and the BSE Small Cap fell by 90.47 points or (1.50%) to 5,924.19.

The Oil and Gas index is trading with deep cut of 406.43 points or 3.87% at 10,103.29. Losers from this pack are Reliance industries trading down by 7.10% at Rs2,189.50 along with RPL by 6.94% at Rs136.75, Essar Oil by 3.12% at Rs163.20, Aban Offshore by 2.80% at Rs979.85, Gail India by 1.74% at Rs282 and Cairn India by 1.25% at Rs241.10.

The Capital Goods index is trading down by 435.36 points or 3.35% at 12,557.30. Leading from the losers pack are Alstom Projects trading lower by 4.95% at Rs442 followed by L&T by 4.52% at Rs1511, Gammon India by 4.41% at Rs148.35, Elecon Eng by 4.31% at Rs76.60, Areva by 3.78% at Rs346.05, Everest Kant by 3.36% at Rs217.45, Praj industries by 3.95% at Rs102, Punj Lloyd by 3.20% at Rs205.70.

The most active shares on NSE are RNRL trading at Rs 110.85 with a total traded quantity of 209781890 shares followed by Unitech trading at Rs.88.70 with a total traded quantity of 57652206 shares.

Gail India Limited is trading lower by 1.39% at Rs283. The company has announced the following Audited results for the quarter & year ended March 31, 2009. The Company has posted a net profit of Rs 6300.20 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2009 as compared to Rs 7223.80 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2008.

Total Income has increased from Rs 50349.50 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2008 to Rs 63220.80 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2009.

On the global markets front, the European markets are trading lower as the FTSE 100, DAX and CAC 40 index are trading down by (1.73%), (1.84%) and (1.87%) respectively.

Markets Are Still Trading Higher - June 10, 2009

The markets are still trading higher as strong buying continued among the benchmark indices. The Capital Goods, Power, Banking, Pharma and Consumer Durables stocks are witnessing strong buying support today. Further the positive opening of the European markets also boosted the sentiments. However the broader market indices have given up most of the early session gains and are now trading flat.

The overall market breadth is positive as 1279 stocks are advancing while 1426 stocks are declining in BSE.

Wipro reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading up by (5.72%) at Rs. 448 while DLF reported the top loser trading down by (2.19%) at Rs. 393.90.

BSE Sensex is trading up by 301 points or (1.99%) at 15,428 and the NSE Nifty is trading higher by 95.95 points or (2.11%) at 4,646.90.

The BSE Mid Cap increased by 26.26 points or (0.50%) to 5,301.98 while the BSE Small Cap fell by 13.23 points or (0.21%) to 6,172.38.

The Capital Goods index is trading with gains of 436.94 points or 3.36% at 13,453.78. Pushing its are Usha Martin trading up by 9.43% at Rs58.05 along with Bhel by 5.30% at Rs2368, Bharat Bijli by 5.12% at Rs912.05, Abb by 4.37% at Rs768, SKF India by 3.84% at Rs242.30, L&T by 3.52% at Rs1629.30, Thermax Ltd by 3.21% at Rs415, Siemens by 2.92% at Rs499.30, Havells India by 2.65% at Rs299.85 and Gammon India by 1.75% at Rs168.30.

The Power index is trading up by 87.59 points or 2.96% at 3,049.68. Gainers from this pack are Lanco Infra trading up by 10.24% at Rs427 followed by Bhel by 5.33% at Rs2,368.70, Tata Power by 4.97% at Rs1197, Reliance Infra by 3.02% at Rs1184, Siemens by 2.65% at Rs498, NTPC by 2.75% at Rs218.80, Torrent Power by 2.75% at Rs164.60.

The most active shares on NSE are Unitech trading at Rs 87.65 with a total traded quantity of 75122065 shares followed by Suzlon Energy trading at Rs.121.45 with a total traded quantity of 45246464 shares.

HDFC is trading up by 1.89% at Rs2,400. The company’s committee of Directors on Wednesday approved a proposal to raise Rs 4000 cr. It will raise the money through a combined offering of secured redeemable non-convertible Debentures (NCDs) of up to Rs 4,000 crore along with warrants in accordance with Chapter XIII-A of the SEBI (Disclosure and Investor Protection) Guidelines, 2000 (SEBI DIP Guidelines).

On the global markets front, the European markets are trading higher as the FTSE 100, DAX and CAC 40 index are trading up by (1.68%), (1.81%) and (1.44%) respectively.

Markets Are Still Trading On A Firm Platform - June 09, 2009

The markets are still trading higher as relentless buying continued among the index heavyweights that led the BSE Sensex surpassed the 15,000 mark and the NSE Nifty crossed the 4,500 mark. All the sectorial indices are trading in green. Further the positive opening of the European markets also boosted the sentiments.

The significant amount of buying is seen among the Realty, IT, Consumer Durables, Metal and Capital Goods stocks.

The overall market breadth is negative as 1242 stocks are advancing while 1459 stocks are declining in BSE.

DLF reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading up by (11.41%) at Rs. 407.60 while Tata Motors reported the top loser trading down by (1.23%) at Rs. 360.25.

The BSE Sensex is trading up by 404.37 points or (2.76%) at 15,070.29 and the NSE Nifty is trading higher by 104.85 points or (2.37%) at 4,534.75.

The BSE Mid Cap increased by 109.08 points or (2.13%) to 5,223.93 and the BSE Small Cap grew by 46.17 points or (0.76%) to 6,130.05.

The Realty index is trading with strong gains of 230.30 points or 6.39% at 3,835.22. Leading from the gainers pack are DLF trading higher by 11.44% at Rs407.70 along with HDIL by 5.77% at Rs284.25, Mahindra Life by 5.26% at Rs304.95, Akruti City by 4.99% at Rs600.35, Anant Raj Inds by 3.88% at Rs128.40, Orbitco by 2.88% at Rs221.70 and Omaxe by 1.69% at Rs111.10.

The IT index is trading up by 132.62 points or 4.14% at 3,336.35. Gainers from this pack are Tech Mahindra trading higher by 15.64% at Rs686 followed by Patni Computers by 10.56% at Rs233.45, HCL Tech by 8.33% at Rs186.70, Aptech by 7.21% at Rs186.50, Oracle Fin by 6.77% at Rs1255, Wipro by 6.16% at Rs431, NIIT by 5.73% at Rs57.20, TCS by 5.34% at Rs777.50 and Rolta India by 4.25% at Rs132.35.

The most active shares on NSE are Unitech trading at Rs 89.20 with a total traded quantity of 102012320 shares followed by Suzlon Energy trading at Rs.122.90 with a total traded quantity of 61623386 shares.

CESC is trading up by 0.43% at Rs330.50. The company has announced the following Consolidated Audited results for the year ended March 31, 2009. The Group has posted a net profit from ordinary activities after tax & minority interest of Rs 770 million for the year ended March 31, 2009 as compared to Rs 2670 million for the year ended March 31, 2008.

Total Income has increased from Rs 37130 million for the year ended March 31, 2008 to Rs 42690 million for the year ended March 31, 2009.

On the global markets front, the European markets are trading higher as the FTSE 100, DAX and CAC 40 index are trading up by (0.28%), (0.41%) and (0.53%) respectively.

Market Spurted Taking Place Firm Global Cues - June 05, 2009

After subdued opening, the key benchmark indices regained strength on firm movement in Asian stocks and positive close of US market overnight. Hopes of renewed reforms and staggering growth fortune by the new government also strengthened investor sentiment. Moreover, it''s the foreign fund that is supporting the bourses which pumped Rs. 20,606.80 crore in May 2009.

As per the provisional data on NSE, foreign funds bought shares worth Rs 465.34 crore on Thursday, 4 June 2009.

On the sectoral front, out of 13 Indices, 11 were traded in green while only 2 were in red. Oil firms advanced as crude oil rose in New York after Goldman Sachs Group Inc. said prices may reach $85 a barrel by the end of the year as demand recovers and supplies shrink.

Auto stocks gained on posting good monthly sales figures in the month of May 2009. IT stocks gained momentum on hopes aggressive measures by the United States to revive the economy may bear fruit.

FMCG stocks fell as investors pulled out of the so called defensive stocks on increased risk appetite.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was strong. On BSE, out of 2,798 stocks traded so far, 1,820 shares advanced while 927 shares declined. Nearly 51 shares are unchanged.

The BSE Sensex is trading higher by 69.46 points at 15,122 and NSE Nifty is up by 15.24 points at 4,587.90.

The BSE Mid Cap is trading higher by 52.76 points at 5,498.84 and Small cap is trading up by 55.46 points at 6,580.65.

Major gainers from the BSE Sensex pack are Grasim Industries Limited surged 5.41% to Rs. 2,495.25 along with Infosys Technologies Limited 4.19% to Rs. 1695.10, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited spurted 3.68% to Rs. 715.10, Tata Power Limited advanced 3.40% to Rs. 1,077.00, Hindalco In by 3.39% to Rs. 92.90, Sun Pharmaceuticals Limited by 3.24% to Rs. 1,349.00, Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited by 3.22% to Rs. 291.65, Larsen & Toubro Limited rose 2.42% to Rs. 1,491.20 and BHEL Limited 2.36% to Rs. 2,223.55 among others.

Losers from the BSE Sensex Pack are ITC Limited plunged 4.27% to Rs. 193.80 along with Reliance Infra fell 2.23% to Rs. 1,245.00, State Bank of India Limited by 2.04% to Rs. 1,837.70, Reliance Industries Limited by 1.60% to Rs. 2,219.50 and NTPC Limited by 1.26% to Rs. 219.50 among others.

The BSE IT is higher by 89.12 points or 2.90% at 3,163.12. Stocks trading in green are Infosys Technologies Limited 4.19% to Rs. 1695.10, Aptech Limited 3.94% to Rs. 196.50, Finance Tech by 2.25% to Rs. 1,481.05, HCL Technologies Limited 1.61%% to Rs. 177.20 and Moser Baer Limited by 1.42% to Rs. 110.50.

Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Limited advanced 2.63% to Rs. 142.50 after its board approved raising upto Rs. 300 crore through sales of shares to institutions.

JSW Steel Limited gained 1.98% to Rs. 598.60 after crude steel production rose 33% to 4.59 lakh tonne in May 2009 over May 2008 due to production from its new project at Karnataka.

Aban Offshore zoomed 7.99% to Rs. 1,235.60 on reports the company has asked bankers to recast its debt repayment schedule.

Cairn India Limited gained 5.21% to Rs. 263.75 as crude oil prices surpassed $68 level overnight on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

GMR Infrastructure Limited fell 0.03% to Rs. 177.45 despite net profit rose 55.79% to Rs 97.67 crore on a 47.07% increase in total income to Rs 165.02 crore in the year ended March 2009 over the year ended March 2008.

Jain Irrigation Systems Limited gained 0.14% to Rs. 652.00 after the company bagged an order worth Rs. 77.80 crore from the World Bank for an irrigation project in Tamil Nadu.

Hindustan Zinc Limited gained 0.81% to Rs. 642.55, on raising zinc and lead prices.

Market Trading Assortment Spring - June 01, 2009

After a fabulous opening, the key benchmark indices traded in a narrow range amidst profit booking pressures. The market is panning for higher levels to cope up with rally in other markets across the world. Meanwhile, there are signs of recovery in the Indian economy. Manufacturing activity expanded for the second straight month in May 2009 to its highest in eight months reflecting a revival in the domestic demand, however export orders remained weak.

Market may see a pre-budget rally on hopes of accelerated economic reforms and pro-reforms announcements. On the sectoral front, out of 13 Indices, 12 advanced while only one was in red. Metal stocks spurted on strong domestic demand.

Realty stocks advanced on expectations that stability at the Centre will attract FDI into the sector which in turn will boost growth.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was strong. On BSE, out of 2,760 stocks traded so far, 2,189 shares advanced while 526 shares declined. Nearly 45 shares are unchanged.

The BSE Sensex is trading higher by 177.30 points at 14,802.56 and NSE Nifty is up by 64.05 points at 4,513.

The BSE Mid Cap is trading higher by 129.40 points at 5,186.14 and Small cap is trading up by 184.26 points at 6,171.09.

Major gainers from the BSE Sensex pack are Jaiprakas Associates zoomed 6.99% to Rs. 222.00 along with NTPC Limited spurted 6.22% to Rs. 228.85, Tata Steel Limited by 5.86% to Rs. 430.10, Reliance Communication Limited by 5.26% to Rs. 321.90, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited spurted 4.61% to Rs. 706.10, ITC Limited by 4.47% to Rs. 191.85, Wipro Limited by 4.29% to Rs. 397.90, Sterlite Industries Limited by 4.01% to Rs. 647.65 and Grasim Industries Limited spurted 3.87% to Rs. 2,187.50 among others.

Losers from the BSE Sensex Pack are BHEL Limited plunged 2.52% to Rs. 2,120.00 along with ICICI Bank Limited fell 2.07% to Rs. 725.35, Bharti Airtel Limited by 1.02% to Rs. 811.30 and HDFC Bank Limited by 0.86% to Rs. 1,430.00.

The BSE Realty is higher by 152.83 points or 4.00% at 3,972.72. Stocks trading in green are Unitech Limited spurted 8.46% to Rs. 86.50, Penland Limited surged 8.09% to Rs. 72.15, Housing Develop by 5.46% to Rs. 299.50, Mahindra LifeScience 5.45%% to Rs. 297.10 and Orbitco Limited by 5.22% to Rs. 177.30.

TVS Motor Company Limited surged 4.59% to Rs. 46.75, on reporting 5.15% growth in total two-wheeler sales to 118,574 units in May 2009 over May 2008.

NTPC Limited spurted 6.22% to Rs. 228.85 as the company plans to invest Rs 55000 crore over the next three years to augment its generation capacity to over 40,000 megawatts by the end of the Eleventh Five Year Plan.

Reliance Communication Limited jumped 5.30% to Rs. 322.00 as the company is planning to raise funds through the qualified institutional placement route.

JMC Projects India Limited grew by a staggering 5% at Rs. 146.40 after net profit jumped 70.32% to Rs. 16.30 crore in Q4 March 2009 over Q4 March 2008.

Tata Steel Limited surged 6.45% to Rs. 432.50 after its unit, Tata Steel UK, won approval from banks to ease conditions on a 3.7 billion pounds loans it took to buy Anglo-Dutch Corus.

Lanco Infratech Limited fell 0.92% to Rs. 365.75 despite net profit surged 32.32% to Rs 264.87 crore in the year ended March 2009 over the year ended March 2008.

Hero Honda Motors Limited rose 1.80% to Rs. 1,365.00 after vehicle sales rose 22.5% to 3.82 lakh units in May 2009 over May 2008.

Voltas Limited galloped 14.02% to Rs. 111.80 after net profit rose 13.4% to Rs 62.86 crore in Q4 March 2009 over Q4 March 2008.

Markets Are At A Standstill Trading Superior - May 28, 2009

The markets slipped off from the day’s high reacting to the negative opening of the European Markets However the markets are still trading higher as buying interest continued among the Metal, Capital Goods, Oil & Gas and Banking stocks. The BSE Sensex is now trading above the 14,250 mark and the NSE Nifty above the 4,300 mark.

The overall market breadth is positive as 1730 stocks are advancing while 974 stocks are declining in BSE.

Mahindra & Mahindra reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading up by (4.51%) at Rs. 653.50 while Tata Motors reported the top loser trading down by (2.84%) at Rs. 333.80.

BSE Sensex is at 14,263.33 up by 153.69 points and Nifty is at 4,317.15 up by 41.10 points.

The BSE Mid Cap is trading higher by 27.49 points at 4,924.86 and the BSE Small Cap increased by 16.92 points to 5,814.66.

The Metal index is trading with decent gains of 278.15 points or 2.71% at 10,544.94. Leading the rally are JSW Steel trading up by 11.94% at Rs 577.55 along with NMDC by 8.09% at Rs415, SAIL by 5.71% at Rs163, Jai Corp by 4.99% at Rs261.10, Sterlite Industries by 3.21% at Rs610.10, Tata Steel by 2.67% at Rs383.20, Ispat Industries by 1.53% at Rs24.51, Welspun Guj by 1.49% at Rs166.80 and Jindal Saw by 1.22% at Rs372.

The Capital Goods index is trading higher by . Gainers from this pack are Elecon Eng trading higher by 4.98% at Rs86.40 in line with Siemens by 3.78% at Rs481, Jyoti Structures by 3.03% at Rs130.85, L&T by 2.34% at Rs1342.15, ABB by 2.16% at Rs621, Punj Lloyd by 2.02% at Rs189.50, Gammon India by 1.50% at Rs169.70 and Alstom Projects by 1.01% at Rs453.

The most active shares on NSE are Unitech trading at Rs 76.60 with a total traded quantity of 55629078 shares followed by Ispat Inds trading at Rs.24.55 with a total traded quantity of 40531122 shares.

SAIL is trading up by 5.71% at Rs163. The Company has posted a net profit of Rs 14866.80 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2009 as compared to Rs 23767.60 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2008.

Total Income has decreased from Rs 138569.50 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2008 to Rs 125901.20 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2009.

L&T is trading up by 2.34% at Rs1342.15. The Company has posted a profit after tax of Rs 9985.20 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2009 as compared to Rs 9667.60 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2008.

Total Income has increased from Rs 87372.10 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2008 to Rs 108357.90 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2009.

Market Continued Its Growth - May 27, 2009

The markets are now trading firm backed by strong buying sentiments prevailing in the other Asian markets. The global cues have resurrected the confidence of domestic investors despite the fact that tomorrow the F&O will expire. Rate sensitive sectors like Bankex and Realty are leading the rally along with other indices like Metal, PSU and CG.

On global perspective Asian stock are on surge led by sectors like automakers and mining companies, as the US consumer confidence data has jumped the most in the six years resulting surge in commodity prices as well. There could be a possibility of minor hiccups in the benchmark indices due to the cautiousness ahead of the F&O expiry tomorrow.

On the sectoral front, traders on-loaded positions across the sectors except FMCG Indices. Oil exploration firms advanced on a higher crude oil prices. IT stocks gained on hopes of attracting new contracts from US which is the biggest market for India IT firms.

Metal stocks surged on firm metal prices on London Metal Exchange. Capital Goods stocks advanced on expectations of increased infrastructure spending by UPA government to boost growth. Banking stocks advanced on hopes the UPA government will pursue financial sector reforms.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was strong. On BSE, out of 2,728 stocks traded so far, 2,184 shares advanced while 498 shares declined. Nearly 46 shares are unchanged.

The BSE Sensex is trading higher by 407.16 points at 13,996 and NSE Nifty is up by 118.37 points at 4,235.

The BSE Mid Cap is trading higher by 143.50 points at 4,867.59 and Small cap is trading up by 154.49 points at 5,763.15.

ITC Limited slipped 1.11% to Rs. 182.15 on reports the company will suspend production at all its factories in a phased manner to introduce pictorial warnings on cigarette packs from 1 June 2009.

Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries Limited advanced 1.30% to Rs. 1,323.75 after the company got US drug regulator''s nod for a generic drug.

Sobha Developers Limited surged 7.00% to Rs. 193.40 after the company sold stakes in projects in Bangaluru and other cities for Rs 225 crore to Bangaluru-based Purna Partners.

IVRCL Infrastructures & Projects Limited spurted 4.50% to Rs. 283.15 after the company bagged an order worth Rs 299 crore.

Market Rallies After A Gap Up Opening - March 26, 2009

After a gap up opening, the benchmark indices are continuously trading in the northward direction on the back of favoring cues from its global counterparts. The better than expected data of US new home sales and durable goods have brought positive momentum across Asian markets. The expiry of derivative contract today has also helped markets to take a surprise rally. During the last hour, buying interest has emerged in Capital Goods, Power and FMCG stocks, whereas investors are booking their profit on yesterday''s top gainer realty counters. Among the sectoral indices, the BSE CG and Power indices are up by 3.67% and 2.61% respectively, while Realty index slipped by 0.31% respectively. Overall the market breadth is positive as 1142 stocks are trading in green while 648 stocks are in red.

At 11.30 AM, the BSE Sensex up by 118.85 points at 9,786.75 whereas NSE Nifty inclined by 34.09 points at 3,018.45. The BSE Mid Cap and Small Cap are trading higher by 26.7 points and 30.15 points at 2,867.87 and 3,195.61 respectively.

The Benchmark Indices Are Continuously Trading On Positive - Feb 6, 2009

The benchmark indices are continuously trading on positive note, backed by strong support from overseas market. Besides, sharp decline in inflation and RBI’s announcement of relaxation in credit availability, which extends forex swap facility for banks until October 2010 and raising interest rate ceiling on foreign currency export credit helped investors to trade with positive sentiments. Markets Managed To Recover From The Day’s Lows - Jan 30, 2009

The markets managed to recover from the day’s lows as significant buying witnessed among the selective scrips. However the Asian markets are trading in a mixed note amid weak economic data. The oil & Gas, Metal, FMCG and Banking stocks are attracting buying interest. However, Power, Pharma, Auto and Capital Goods and IT stocks are reeling under pressure. The Government of India on Friday left its estimate for gross domestic product growth in the 2007/08 fiscal year unchanged at 9%.

The BSE Sensex is now trading near the 9300 mark and the NSE Nifty near the 2850 mark. The BSE Mid Cap And the Small Cap stocks are alos trading higher.

India''s Spice Group is ready to invest about Rs. 20 billion (USD408 million) in Satyam Computer Services and wants to buy a 51% stake in scam-hit Satyam Computer. The company has already submitted on Thursday its proposal to the government-appointed new board of Satyam. Share of Spice Communication spurted over 40%.

Cairn India advanced by (2.15%) to Rs. 164.25. The company has posted a net profit of Rs. 451.2mn for the fiscal third quarter as against a net loss of Rs.543.1mn in the quarter ended December, 2007. On a consolidated basis, the company reported a net profit of Rs2.36bn for the third quarter compared to a net loss Rs139.1mn for the quarter ended December 2007.

HCL Technologies is trading higher by (3%) at Rs. 1135.35. The company has bagged a multi-million dollar contract spread over five years from Nokia and involving providing global helpdesk as well as desktop management services through HCL’s delivery centres in Finland, Poland, China, the US and India.

On the global markets front, the Asian markets are trading mixed as Hang Seng is trading higher by (0.13%) while Nikkei 225, Straits Times and Seoul Composite index are trading lower by (3.12%), (0.92%) and (0.38%) respectively. Japan reported a record slump in its production and lower profit forecasts has increased worries among investors that the global recession is expanding. However the Shanghai and Taiwan markets remained shut today. Industrial output in Japan plunged at a seasonally adjusted 9.6% in December compared to November, breaking the previous month’s record decline of 8.5% and the economist’s expectations of a drop of 9%. However, Japan''s industrial production for the full year was down 3.4%.

The overall market breadth is turns positive as 1017 stocks are advancing while 982 stocks are declining and the 100 stocks remain unchanged on BSE.

Jai Prakash Associate reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack as it was trading higher by (4.10%) at Rs. 72.40 while Sun Pharma the top loser down by (7.28%) at Rs.1,060.

The BSE Mid cap is higher by 15.60 points at 2,919.04 and the BSE small Cap advanced by 13.60 points to trade at 3,317.01.

At 12.35 pm, BSE Sensex was at 9,296.81 up by 60.53 points while the NSE Nifty was at 2,843 up by 19.05 points.

BSE Oil & Gas index advanced by 94.52 points to 6,131.15 as RNRL (4.89%), Indian Oil (3.73%), RPL (3.59%), Cairn India (2.30%) and ONGC (2.21%) are trading in positive.

BSE IT index decreased by 4.49 points to trade at 2,224.35 as Financial Technologies (2.34%), TCS (1.43%), Wipro (1.13%), Infosys Technologies (0.43%) and Mphasis (0.17%) are trading in negative.

BSE Metal index up by 12.84 points to 4,914.33 as Jindal Steel (9.07%), Jai Corp (4.96%), NMDC (3.19%) and Sterlite Industries (0.28%) are trading in green.

BSE Capital Goods index declined by 62 points to 6,086.16. The main losers are Crompton Greaves (4.39%), BHEL (3.38%), Gammon India (2.52%), BEML (1.32%) and Havells India (0.70%).

Benchmark Indices Are Trading Positive - Jan 28, 2009

The key benchmark indices are trading positive on the back of strong support from its global counterparts. Along with this, auto sectors got a boost after the UK government announced aid package for UK carmakers, which is ultimately beneficial for Tata motors for its JLR wing. However, investors turned cautious ahead of the expiry of January series derivatives contract, which is making market to trade range bound. Positive Sentiments Pulling Market North - Jan 27, 2009

The benchmark indices comes off from the day''s high as the Reserve Bank Of India keeps the benchmark interest rate unchanged in its third quarter review of the Monetary Policy for 2008-09. The central bank left its repo rate, reverse repo rate and the cash reserve ratio (CRR) unchanged at 5.5%, 4% and 5% respectively. The benchmark indices are trading flat with negative bias and mounting pressure on investor sentiments. After some sign of recover in the early hours of the day, the markets are trading in red with grim earnings report from big wigs. The Asian markets are also trading low, weighed by poor corporate results and deteriorating global economy. The sectoral indices are trading in red with Capital Goods, Metal, IT and Realty on the top. The market breath is favoring decline, as 1,197 stocks are trading in red and about 605 stocks in green on the broader BSE.

Markets Are Trading With Huge Volatility - Jan 22, 2009

The markets after a sharp drop from the day’s high, have recovered a bit from the low’s. The selling pressure is seen among the Realty, Consumer Durables, Metal, Capital Goods and Auto stocks. The BSE Mid Cap and the BSE Small Cap index are also trading lower today. Further the investors is eyeing on the crucial quarterly number of the Reliance Industries. The company is likely to report dismal numbers due to the sharp fall in the demand of petrochemicals and the petroleum product prices.

The BSE Sensex is now trading below the 8,800 mark and the NSE Nifty is trading around the 2,700 mark.

The overall market breadth is negative as 676 stocks are advancing while 1593 stocks are declining in BSE.

Markets Are Trading With Volatility - Jan 21, 2009

The markets are trading with some choppiness as volatility strikes the markets. The investor’s hesitate take any fresh positions. The markets across the globe slipped on renewed fears of global economic meltdown. The Banking, Power, Realty, Metal and Capital Goods stocks are out of favor today. The BSE Sensex is now trading below the 9,000 mark and the NSE Nifty around the 2,750 mark. The BSE Mid Cap And the Small Cap stocks are also trading lower today. Banking stocks were under severe pressure today, on the back of weakness across global financial stocks.

Wipro reported 3.51% rise in net profit to Rs.1,003.90 crore for the Oct-Dec quarter compared with Rs.969.80 crore in the previous quarter. However the net profit rose 18% on a year-on-year basis. On a standalone basis, the company''s net profit stood at Rs. 733 crore in the Oct-Dec period against Rs. 852.50 crore sequentially.

On the global markets front, the Asian markets are trading mostly lower as Hang Seng, Shanghai Composite, Nikkei, Straits Times and Seoul Composite index are trading lower by (2.34%), (1.09%), (2.04%), (2.08%) and (2.06%) respectively.

The overall market breadth is negative as 876 stocks are advancing while 1102 stocks are declining and the 106 stocks remain unchanged on BSE.

Hindustan Unilever reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack as it was trading higher by (2.25%) at Rs. 251.75 while Tata Power the top loser down by (4.40%) at Rs.736.10.

The BSE Mid cap is lower by 13.14 points at 3,002.87 and the BSE small Cap slipped by 11.19 points to trade at 3,427.90.

At 12.35 pm, BSE Sensex was at 8,982.85 down by 117.70 points while the NSE Nifty was at 2,763.15 down by 33.45 points.

Markets Made Smart Come Back - Jan 14, 2009

The markets today made smart come back and open significantly higher. All the sectorial indices are trading in green in the opening trade. The IT, Metal, Oil & Gas, Realty, Banking and Oil & Gas stocks are on the buyer’s ride today.

The BSE Mid Cap and the Small Cap are also trading higher with a gain of more than 1% each in the early trade.

The BSE Sensex is now trading around the 9,300 mark and the NSE Nifty trading above the 2,800 mark.

The Asian Markets are trading higher as Shanghai Composite, Hang Seng, Seoul Composite, Straits Times and Nikkei index are trading higher by (1.45%), (1.43%), (0.51%), (1.14%) and (0.02%) respectively.

The US stock market on Tuesday, ended flat after a sharp choppy session due to increased earnings concern. However the financial sector got a boost after Fed Chairman Bernanke stated that more capital injections and guarantees may become necessary and as Obama pushed for release of remaining USD 350 billion TARP funds The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) dropped by 25.41 points to close at 8,448.56. The NASDAQ Composite (RIXF) index increased by 7.67 points to close at 1,546.46 and the S&P 500 (SPX) grew 1.53 points to close at 871.79.

TCS reported a top gainer among the BSE Sensex pack up by (5.78%) at Rs. 553 while Sun Pharma the top loser down by (1.90%) at Rs. 1,113.

The overall market breadth is positive as 759 stocks are advancing while 329 stocks are declining on BSE.

At 10.33AM, the BSE Sensex was up by 242.03 points at 9,313.39 and the Nifty was up by 67.35 points to 2,812.30.

The BSE Mid Cap increased by 48.53 points to 3,054.94 and the BSE Small Cap advanced by 40.97 points to 3,483.32.

BSE Metal index is trading higher by 151.88 points or (3.13%) to trade at 5,006.77. The top gainers are Gujarat NRE increased by (6.25%) to Rs.28.90, Sesa Goa up by (4.40%) to Rs.75.90, Ispat Industries inclined by (4.05%) to Rs.11.06 followed by SAIL grew by (3.54%) to Rs. 76.15.

BSE IT index is trading higher by 92.11 points or (4.29%) to trade at 2,239.80. The major gainers are HCL Technologies inclined by (7.32%) to Rs. 116.55, TCS up by (5.78%) to Rs.553, Infosys Technologies increased by (4.87%) to Rs.1,290.10 followed by Wipro grew by (3.73%) to Rs.250.10.

Siemens is trading higher by (4.67%) at Rs.219.50. The company with an aim to separate the low margin business and focus on acquiring higher margin businesses, has transferred its entire shareholding in its IT arm--Siemens Information Systems (SISL) to a subsidiary of Siemens AG- Siemens Corporate Finance, for Rs 449-crore.

Unitech advancing by (2.49%) at Rs.34.95. The company is in talks with private equity (PE) funds for investments up to $560 million (Rs 27,500 crore). The company as part of its plan to cut debt and secure funding to complete existing projects, is in negotiations with banks to restructure an additional Rs 500 crore of loans.

Benchmark Indices Are Trading In A Green Territory - Jan 13, 2009

The benchmark indices are trading in a green territory on account of positive sentiments across the board brought by the announcement of quarterly results of Infosys Technologies. In the midst of global recession, the company has posted better then expected Q3 earnings which pushed Indices up, despite Wipro along with few IT companies had barred from World Bank. However, the market turned volatile on account of weak Asian markets due to Wall Street fell for the fourth session on Monday because of worries related to financial sector grew. On a sectoral front IT, Realty and TECk indices trading up by 3.99%, 2.73% and 1.76% respectively. The market breadth is positive as 1019 stocks are trading in green while 763 stocks are in red.

At 11.30 AM, the BSE Sensex up by 41.92 points at 9,151.97 whereas NSE Nifty higher by 4.75 points at 2,777.85. The BSE Mid Cap and BSE Small Cap are trading higher by 20.24 points and 24.65 points at 3,070.26 and 3,519.9 respectively.

Gainers from the NSE Nifty Pack are Infosys Technologies by (4.68%) at Rs.1214 along with ITC Ltd by (3.06%) at Rs.170.15, Tata Power Company by (2.99%) at Rs.749, BPCL by (2.67%) at Rs.374.55 and SAIL by (2.61%) at Rs.74.65.

BSE IT is trading higher by (4.11%) or 84.31 points at 2,135.36. The major gainers are Infosys Technologies higher by (5.28%) at Rs.1217.70, along with Aptech Ltd by (4.12%) at Rs.78.40, Wipro Ltd by (2.55%) at Rs.233.15, Mphasis Ltd by (2.12%) at Rs.152, followed by NIT Ltd by (1.91%) to Rs.72.25.

BSE Realty is trading higher by (2.67%) or 47.37 points at 1820.73. The top gainers in the index are Indiabulls real by (4.02%) to Rs.108.75 along with Omaxe Ltd by (3.28%) to Rs.55.15, Parsvnath by (2.48%) to Rs.41.25, Unitech by (2.20%) to Rs.34.80 followed by Housing Dev by (2.18%) at Rs.103.

After a week opening in its early trades, market shown some sign of recovery on the back of some positive sentiments across the Asian market. As the government is scheduled to announce inflation figure today, the eyes are partially shifted from Satyam Scandal to inflation rate figures. Looking at past trend of declining inflation rate, market has hold its nervous for some positive news of cooling inflation rate further. The heavy selling seen across Realty, CG and Metal sectors as the indices down by around 19.44%, 7.28% and 6.86% respectively. The market breadth is negative as 305 stocks are trading in green while 1606 stocks are in red.

At 11.30 AM, the BSE Sensex down by 275.23 points at 9,311.64 while NSE Nifty declined by 91.15 points at 2,829.25. The BSE Mid Cap and BSE Small Cap are trading lower by 152.85 points and 158.69 points at 3,045.06 and 3,503.82 respectively.
