Market Extensive Pasting - July 02, 2009

Market after a gap-up opening, the key benchmark Indices drifted towards the southward. There is still uncertainty lingering amongst market participants on the upcoming Budget. The buying sentiments across the Asian markets failed to propel the domestic traders'' sentiments. There is lot of cautiousness prevailing in the markets, embedded with profit booking pressures.

On the sectoral front, out of 13 Indices, 4 indices advanced whereas 9 indices declined. PSU OMCs advanced as government hiked petrol and diesel prices overnight. Metal stocks gained after LMEX, a gauge of six metals traded on the London Metal Exchange, improved 2.9% overnight.

Banking stocks plunged on profit taking after the recent gains. IT stocks slipped on profit taking after recent really. Some Cement stocks advanced on higher dispatches in the month just gone by.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was strong. On BSE, out of 2,522 stocks traded so far, 1,296 shares advanced while 1,155 shares declined. Nearly 71 shares are unchanged.

The BSE Sensex is trading lower by 128.69 points at 14,516.77 whereas NSE Nifty is down by 34.69 points at 4,306.20.

The BSE Mid Cap is trading lower by 17.55 points at 5,109.96 and Small cap is trading up by 20.5 points at 5,777.92.

Major gainers from the BSE Sensex pack are ONGC spurted 5.73% to Rs. 1,112.90 along with Tata Steel Limited 3.86% to Rs. 410.25, Sun Pharmaceutical Limited gained 3.03% to Rs. 1,152.20, Sterlite Industries Limited improved 2.01% to Rs. 623.50, Housing Development Finance Co advanced 1.66% to Rs. 2,385.00, NTPC Limited gained 1.35% to Rs. 198.25 and Grasim Industries Limited improved 0.75% to Rs. 2,322.10 among others.

Losers from the BSE Sensex Pack are Reliance Communication Limited plunged 3.37% to Rs. 288.50 along with BHEL Limited by 3.25% to Rs. 2,145.10, Tata Motors by 3.24% to Rs. 289.60, Reliance Industries Limited by 2.79% to Rs. 2,000.00, DLF Limited by 2.72% to Rs. 316.75, Bharti Airtel by 2.53% to Rs. 802.00, State Bank of India by 2.52% to Rs. 1,735.00, Maruti Suzuki 2.44% to Rs. 1044.00, Hindustan Uniliver Limited by 2.09% to Rs. 267.00 and Larsen & Toubro Limited slipped 2.05% to Rs. 1,542.00.

The BSE Auto is lower by 65.80 points or 1.43% at 4,615.76. Stocks trading in red are Escorts Limited 4.49% to Rs. 62.70, Bajaj Auto Limited 4.34% to Rs. 964.40, Tata Motors Limited 2.87% to Rs. 290.70, Ashok Leyland by 2.60% to Rs. 29.95 and Maruti Suzuki 2.44% to Rs. 1044.00 among others.

Bajaj Auto Limited slipped 4.34% to Rs. 964.40 after total vehicle sales fell 2% to 1.93 units in June 2009 over June 2008.

Tulip Telecom Limited gained 4.18% to Rs. 908.00 extending recent strong gains triggered by good Q4 March 2009 results.

Indiabulls Financial Services Limited improved 1.63% to Rs. 193.40 after a block deal of eight lakh shares was executed on NSE at Rs. 193 per share.

McNally Bharat Engineering Company Limited zoomed 8.90% to Rs. 136.50, after the company bagged two orders totaling Rs. 46.88 crore.

Gitanjali Gems fell 0.19% to Rs. 107.00 despite the company said it will acquire 70% stake in unlisted MobileNXT Teleservices, a mobile retail chain.

ONGC spurted 5.73% to Rs. 1,112.90 as the company expects subsidy burden for the current year to be significantly lower, following the fuel price hike.

Punj Lloyd Limited gained 0.63% to Rs. 215.35, after the company''s overseas unit bagged an order worth Rs. 1,263 crore.

Market Traded Slow-Moving - June 25, 2009

After spectacular opening, the key benchmark indices traded positive as gainers outnumbered the losers in the index pivotal. Firm trade in Asian markets have weighed on the buying momentum of our traders. Some nervousness was seen due to forecast of a below normal monsoon rains for the first time in four years and foreign funds have been on a selling drive recently after aggressively buying during the past three months or so.

On the sectoral front, out of 13 Indices, 8 were traded in green whereas 5 were in red. Metal stocks gained after LMEX, a gauge of six metals traded on the London Metal Exchange, climbed 4.8% overnight, the most since 19th March 2009. Auto stocks were lackluster on recent reports the government may hike fuel prices.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was strong. On BSE, out of 2,536 stocks traded so far, 1,637 shares advanced while 821 shares declined. Nearly 78 shares are unchanged.

At 1.30PM, the BSE Sensex is trading higher by 75.78 points at 14,498.52 whereas NSE Nifty is up by 7.00 points at 4,299.95.

The BSE Mid Cap is trading higher by 58.06 points at 5,117.91 and Small cap is trading up by 66.86 points at 5,785.89.

Major gainers from the BSE Sensex pack are Housing Development Finance Co advanced 2.89% to Rs. 2,376.00 along with ICICI Bank Limited by 2.74% to Rs. 708.25, Grasim Industries Limited gained 2.62% to Rs. 2,383.20, Jaiprakash Associates Limited improved 2.46% to Rs. 218.65, Reliance Communication Limited advanced 2.26% to Rs. 308.30, Hindalco Industries Limited jumped 2.09% to Rs. 85.55, DLF Limited 1.83% to Rs. 326.35, Sterlite Industries India Limited gained 1.67% to Rs. 581.00 and ACC Limited gained 1.48% to Rs. 780.00 among others.

Losers from the BSE Sensex Pack are Tata Motors Limited plunged 4.12% to Rs. 342.30 along with Mahindra & Mahindra Limited plunged 3.29% to Rs. 700.05, ONGC Limited dipped 2.47% to Rs. 1,025.05, Maruti Suzuki plunged 2.25% to Rs. 1,036.00, Tata Steel Limited 2.07% to Rs. 398.15, NTPC Limited by 0.96% to Rs. 196.70, Hindustan Uniliver Limited 0.95% to Rs. 260.20 and ITC Limited slipped 0.65% to Rs. 197.35 among others.

The BSE Realty is higher by 97.30 points or 2.99% at 3,348.33. Stocks trading in green are Unitech Limited 7.63% to Rs. 83.95, Phoenix Mills 4.31% to Rs. 98.00, Anant Raj Industries 4.21% to Rs. 95.40, Penland Limited by 2.56% to Rs. 70.05 and Ansal Infrastructure 2.50% to Rs. 59.40 among others.

Sterlite Industries India Limited gained 1.67% to Rs. 581.00 tracking firmness in global copper after the US Federal Reserve''s comments yesterday, 24 June 2009, fuelled hopes of demand revival of the red metal globally.

HT Media Limited fell 0.10% to Rs. 97.25 despite a block deal of five lakh shares was executed on BSE at Rs. 97.50 per share.

JSL Limited retreated 4.94% to Rs. 84.60 after the company posted a net loss of Rs. 161.23 crore in Q4 March 2009 as compared to net profit of Rs. 53.11 crore in Q4 March 2008.

Jaiprakash Hydro-Power Limited galloped 5.95% to Rs. 91.75 on reports Jaiprakash Associates'' unlisted unit Jaiprakash Power Venture is set to merge with Jaiprakash Hydro-Power.

Navneet Publications (India) Limited surged 3.29% to Rs. 73.80, after net profit spurted 344.23% to Rs. 9.24 crore in Q4 March 2009 over Q4 March 2008.

Wyeth Limited advanced 2.59% to Rs. 596.55 after net profit surged 52.1% to Rs. 18.50 crore in Q4 March 2009 over Q4 March 2008.

Grasim Industries Limited gained 2.62% to Rs. 2,383.20. on reports it plans to absorb its unit UltraTech Cement, to consolidate the group''s cement business under one arm.

Indiabulls Financial Services Limited jumped 5% to Rs. 177.30, after a block deal of ten lakh shares was executed on BSE at Rs 173.25 per share.

ONGC Limited dipped 2.47% to Rs. 1,025.05 after net profit declined 16% to Rs. 2,206.76 crore on 12.3% fall in sales to Rs. 13,703.80 crore in Q4 March 2009 over Q4 March 2008.

ACC Limited gained 1.48% to Rs. 780.00, after a unit of the company entered into an agreement with the Madhya Pradesh State Mining Corporation for setting up a joint venture company for coal mining.

Market Spurted Taking Place Firm Global Cues - June 05, 2009

After subdued opening, the key benchmark indices regained strength on firm movement in Asian stocks and positive close of US market overnight. Hopes of renewed reforms and staggering growth fortune by the new government also strengthened investor sentiment. Moreover, it''s the foreign fund that is supporting the bourses which pumped Rs. 20,606.80 crore in May 2009.

As per the provisional data on NSE, foreign funds bought shares worth Rs 465.34 crore on Thursday, 4 June 2009.

On the sectoral front, out of 13 Indices, 11 were traded in green while only 2 were in red. Oil firms advanced as crude oil rose in New York after Goldman Sachs Group Inc. said prices may reach $85 a barrel by the end of the year as demand recovers and supplies shrink.

Auto stocks gained on posting good monthly sales figures in the month of May 2009. IT stocks gained momentum on hopes aggressive measures by the United States to revive the economy may bear fruit.

FMCG stocks fell as investors pulled out of the so called defensive stocks on increased risk appetite.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was strong. On BSE, out of 2,798 stocks traded so far, 1,820 shares advanced while 927 shares declined. Nearly 51 shares are unchanged.

The BSE Sensex is trading higher by 69.46 points at 15,122 and NSE Nifty is up by 15.24 points at 4,587.90.

The BSE Mid Cap is trading higher by 52.76 points at 5,498.84 and Small cap is trading up by 55.46 points at 6,580.65.

Major gainers from the BSE Sensex pack are Grasim Industries Limited surged 5.41% to Rs. 2,495.25 along with Infosys Technologies Limited 4.19% to Rs. 1695.10, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited spurted 3.68% to Rs. 715.10, Tata Power Limited advanced 3.40% to Rs. 1,077.00, Hindalco In by 3.39% to Rs. 92.90, Sun Pharmaceuticals Limited by 3.24% to Rs. 1,349.00, Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited by 3.22% to Rs. 291.65, Larsen & Toubro Limited rose 2.42% to Rs. 1,491.20 and BHEL Limited 2.36% to Rs. 2,223.55 among others.

Losers from the BSE Sensex Pack are ITC Limited plunged 4.27% to Rs. 193.80 along with Reliance Infra fell 2.23% to Rs. 1,245.00, State Bank of India Limited by 2.04% to Rs. 1,837.70, Reliance Industries Limited by 1.60% to Rs. 2,219.50 and NTPC Limited by 1.26% to Rs. 219.50 among others.

The BSE IT is higher by 89.12 points or 2.90% at 3,163.12. Stocks trading in green are Infosys Technologies Limited 4.19% to Rs. 1695.10, Aptech Limited 3.94% to Rs. 196.50, Finance Tech by 2.25% to Rs. 1,481.05, HCL Technologies Limited 1.61%% to Rs. 177.20 and Moser Baer Limited by 1.42% to Rs. 110.50.

Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Limited advanced 2.63% to Rs. 142.50 after its board approved raising upto Rs. 300 crore through sales of shares to institutions.

JSW Steel Limited gained 1.98% to Rs. 598.60 after crude steel production rose 33% to 4.59 lakh tonne in May 2009 over May 2008 due to production from its new project at Karnataka.

Aban Offshore zoomed 7.99% to Rs. 1,235.60 on reports the company has asked bankers to recast its debt repayment schedule.

Cairn India Limited gained 5.21% to Rs. 263.75 as crude oil prices surpassed $68 level overnight on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

GMR Infrastructure Limited fell 0.03% to Rs. 177.45 despite net profit rose 55.79% to Rs 97.67 crore on a 47.07% increase in total income to Rs 165.02 crore in the year ended March 2009 over the year ended March 2008.

Jain Irrigation Systems Limited gained 0.14% to Rs. 652.00 after the company bagged an order worth Rs. 77.80 crore from the World Bank for an irrigation project in Tamil Nadu.

Hindustan Zinc Limited gained 0.81% to Rs. 642.55, on raising zinc and lead prices.
