Markets Are Still Holding Positive Momentum - Aug 20 , 2008

Markets are continuing to sustain the positive momentum and trading with gains. Most of the buying is seen in Metal, Capital Goods, Reality, Pharma and Bank stocks. Midcap and Small cap stocks are also witnessing buying interest. However, IT and FMCG stocks are out of favor as most of the selling is seen from these baskets. Among the Sensex pack 22 stocks are trading in green while 8 are in red.

At 1.30PM, the BSE Sensex is trading higher by 95.05 points at 14,638.79 and NSE Nifty is up by 35.19 points at 4,403.45.

The BSE Mid Cap is trading higher by 53.93 points at 5,820.26 along with Small Cap up by 55.05 points at 7,067.79.

Gainers from the BSE are Reliance Comm Ltd trading higher by (2.94%) at Rs411.55 in line with BHEL by (2.21%) at Rs1,715.05, Reliance Infra by (1.98%) at Rs1,014.00, Ranbaxy Lab by (1.90%) at Rs501.65, Maruti Suzuki by (1.75%) at Rs627.00, NTPC Ltd by (1.60%) at Rs3184.30, ACC Ltd by (1.51%) at Rs568.50 and Sterlite Indus (1.50%) at Rs610.55.

The Metal index is trading higher by 172.10 points at Rs12,444.90 as NMDC Ltd is trading up by (3.54%) at Rs343.80 followed by Steel Authority (3.00%) at Rs144.30, Ispat Indus (2.96%) at Rs26.05, Hindustan Zinc (2.88%) at Rs559.85 and Sterlite In by (1.33%) at Rs609.50.

The Capital goods index is trading up by 142.48 points at Rs12,204.89 as Reliance Industrial Infra is trading higher by (3.87%) at Rs999.65 along with Walchand Indus (3.03%) at Rs292.00, BHEL by (2.21%) at Rs1,715.05, ABB Ltd (2.11%) at Rs883.15 and Aiaengineer (1.88%) at Rs1,530.00.

The IT index is trading down by 10.74 points at Rs3,881.52. Scrips trading lower are I-Flex by (1.29%) at Rs1,266.00 along with Satyam Computer (1.00%) at Rs401.60, Infosys Tech by (0.26%) at Rs1,689.15, TCS Ltd by (0.25%) at Rs838.00 and Wipro Ltd by (0.24%) at Rs430.20.

From the telecommunication sector, Idea Cellular is trading higher by (3.24%) at Rs84.50 followed by Reliance Com Ltd trading up by (3.20%) at Rs4012.60, Bharti Airtel by (1.41%) at Rs803.05 while Tata Communications is lower by (1.08%) at Rs2,260.00.

In auto sector Hero Honda Motors is up by (1.77%) at Rs803.25 along with Maruti Suzuki higher by (1.42%) at Rs625.25 and Tata Motors by (0.68%) at Rs424.75 while M&M Ltd is trading down by (2.38%) at Rs548.00.

From cement sector Grasim Indus is trading higher by (1.27%) at Rs1,983.50 followed by ACC Ltd up by (1.22%) at Rs567.20 and Ambuja Cement by (1.19%) at Rs81.10.
