The markets today open sharply lower backed by some negative cues from the global markets. The significant selling pressure witnessed in the Banking, Realty, Capital Goods and Power stocks. However, the IT and Metal stocks are in demand in the opening trade. The BSE Sensex has gone below the 15000 mark and the NSE Nifty below the 4500 mark in the early trade. The BSE Mid Cap and BSE Small cap are also trading lower in the opening bell.
The overall market breadth is negative as 603 stocks are advancing whereas 1043 stocks are declining on BSE.
Sterlite Industries reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading with a gain of (1.62%) at Rs.622.95 while DLF reported the top loser down by (5.23%) at Rs.519.90.
At 10.30AM, the BSE Sensex was down by 275.22 points at 14,817.90 and the Nifty was down by 64.70 points to 4,464.35.
The BSE Mid Cap decreased by 69.56 points to 5,859.81 and the BSE Small Cap slipped by 48.15 points to 7,181.62.
BSE Metal index advanced by 61.45 points to trade at 12,704.68. The major gainers are Sterlite Industries, Tata Steel, JSW Steel and SAIL grew by (1.55%), (0.84%), (0.82%) and (0.38%) to Rs.622.50, Rs.615.55, Rs.771.90 and Rs.622.50 respectively.
BSE Realty index dropped by 196.41 points to trade at 5,414.42. The top losers are India Bull Real decreased by (5.43%) to Rs.333.70, DLF down by (5.12%) to Rs.520.50, Omaxe Ltd. declined by (2.63%) to Rs.133.05 followed by Unitech fell by (2.89%) to Rs.176.50.
Tata Steel is trading higher by (1.34%) at Rs.618.55. The company has signed a $5 billion joint venture investment agreement in Vietnam to set up an integrated steel complex with 4.5 million tonne capacity.
