The markets today open in deep red on the back of sharp negative cues from the global markets as the jobless claims in the US came higher than expected. The BSE Sensex has slipped below the 14600 mark and the NSE Nifty below the 4400 mark in the opening trade. All the sectorial indices are trading in red in the opening bell mainly led by the Realty, Banking, IT and Metal stocks. The BSE Mid Cap and the BSE Small Cap are also trading lower.
The overall market breadth is negative as 455 stocks are advancing whereas 1133 stocks are declining on BSE.
Sterlite Industries reported the top loser from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading with a loss of (3.36%) at Rs.592.50 followed by Jai Prakash Associate down by (3.28%) at Rs.592.50.
At 10.30AM, the BSE Sensex was down by 335.74 points at 14,563.36 and the Nifty was down by 91.60 points to 4,356.15.
The BSE Mid Cap decreased by 0.84 points to 5,780.18 and the BSE Small Cap slipped by 31.81 points to 6,942.56.
BSE Bank index dropped by 210.38 points to trade at 7,224.35. The major losers are HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, PNB and SBI fell by (2.69%), (2.66%), (2.50%) and (2%) to Rs.1,268, Rs.697.60, Rs.506.80 and Rs.1,504 respectively.
BSE Realty index slipped by 128.77 points to trade at 5,066.95. The top losers are India Bull Real decreased by (3.58%) to Rs.279, Mahindra Life down by (3.18%) to Rs.461.20, Unitech declined by (2.82%) to Rs.160.50 followed by DLF fell by (2.38%) to Rs.510.30
