Markets Continues To Trade Higher - Sep 19, 2008

Indian Markets continues to trade higher after a strong opening on firm global cues. The US treasury has come out with a plan to create a Resolution Trust-like operation to calm the economic turmoil and the financial crisis. Strong opening of European markets also lifted the sentiments. All indices are trading with gains and among those, Capital Goods, Reality, Bank, Metal, Oil & Gas and IT stocks are witnessing healthy buying. NSE Nifty is trading around 4,200 level and BSE Sensex is above 13,800 mark. Among the Sensex pack, 28 stocks are trading in green and 2 are in red.

Inflation rose marginally to 12.14% for the week ended 6th September 2008, as against 12.1% recorded a week earlier on account of the rise in primary and food articles. Primary articles were up by 1%, food articles rose 1.4% and non-food articles 0.2 %. The annual inflation rate was 3.46% during the corresponding week of the previous year.

At 1.32PM, the BSE Sensex is trading higher by 574.20 points at 13,889.81 and NSE Nifty is up by 152.25 points at 4,190.40.

The BSE Mid Cap and Small cap are trading higher by 124.10 points and 120.70 points at 5,203.39 and 6,196.17 respectively.

Gainers from the BSE are Satyam Computer trading up by (8.51%) at Rs363.50 in line with DLF Ltd by (8.05%) at Rs428.00, HDFC by (6.98%) at Rs2,280.00, Infosys Tech by (6.34%) at Rs1,620.10, TCS Ltd by (5.96%) at Rs763.00 and ICICI Bank Ltd (5.90%) at Rs609.80.

The BSE Capital Goods index is trading up by 332.21 points at Rs11,580.71 as Crompton Greaves is trading higher by (6.23%) at Rs249.95 followed by Wallchand In (5.88%) at Rs237.75, Jyoti Struct (4.66%) at Rs103.40, Alstom Proje by (4.25%) at Rs385.00 and BHEL (4.15%) at Rs1,676.00.

The BSE Oil & Gas index is trading higher by 320.28 points at Rs9,293.17 as Cairn India is trading up by (6.23%) at Rs220.00 along with Reliance (4.58%) at Rs2,021.35, Reliance Nat Res (3.96%) at Rs80.10 and ONGC Ltd (3.42%) at Rs1,033.30.

From the telecommunication sector, Bharti Airtel is trading higher by (4.16%) at Rs792.95 along with Reliance Com Ltd by (3.44%) at Rs368.35, Idea Cellular up by (3.00%) at Rs77.35 and Tata Communications by (2.62%) at Rs445.00.

In auto sector Maruti Suzuki is higher by (3.04%) at Rs738.71 followed by Tata Motors by (0.95%) at Rs420.00 while Hero Honda Motors is trading down by (1.73%) at Rs825.00 and M&M Ltd is trading lower by (1.40%) at Rs542.00 and.

From cement sector by Ambuja cements is trading up by (4.82%) at Rs84.85, followed by Grasim Indus trading higher by (0.92%) at Rs1,901.10 and ACC Ltd by (0.59%) at Rs607.20
