Markets Continues To Face Bloodbath - Sep 15, 2008

Indian Markets continues to face bloodbath and ignore the fall in crude oil as sentiment is completely bearish today. The US financial sector turmoil is crushing the domestic markets. NSE Nifty is trading below 4,100 level and BSE Sensex is around 13,400 mark. BSE Mid cap and Small Cap are trading with deep cut of more than 5%. Reality stocks lost approx 10%. Apart from that, Capital Goods, Bank, Metal, Reality and Oil & Gas stocks are major sufferers of negative sentiment. Among the Sensex pack, all 30 stocks are trading in red.

On the global front Lehman Brothers is going to file for bankruptcy protection in US today. Along with that AIG is a bigger concern for the markets as facing liquidity crunch and seeking $40 billion loan from Federal Reserve to raise capital. Crude oil for October delivery declined $2.13 to $99.05 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange after Hurricane Ike inflicted minimal damage to oil installations on the Texas coast.

At 1.32PM, the BSE Sensex is trading lower by 586.55 points at 13,414.26 and NSE Nifty is down by 206.00 points at 4,021.55.

The BSE Mid Cap and Small cap are trading lower by 301.41 points and 371.68 points at 5,235.73 and 6,339.86 respectively.

Losers from the BSE are Reliance Infra trading down by (9.29%) at Rs843.00 in line with Satyam Comp by (8.99%) at Rs370.00, DLF Ltd by (7.38%) at Rs433.35, JP Associates by (6.89%) at Rs146.70, Reliance Com Ltd by (6.60%) at Rs365.35, Sterlite In by (6.57%) at Rs455.10, Ranbaxy Lab by (6.31%) at Rs425.30 and ONGC (6.24%) at Rs959.00.

The BSE Capital Goods index is trading down by 594.57 points at Rs11,242.01 as Walchand Industries is trading lower by (10.36%) at Rs243.10 followed by Praj Industries (8.96%) at Rs159.95, Reliance Indus Infra (8.38%) at Rs773.05, Siemens Ltd by (7.55%) at Rs480.70 and Jyoti Struct (7.06%) at Rs112.50.

The BSE Metal index is trading lower by 576.88 points at Rs10,304.54 as NMDC Ltd is trading down by (9.71%) at Rs252.00 along with Ispat Indus (8.52%) at Rs20.35, Welspan Gujarat Sr (8.38%) at Rs280.00, Jindal Steel by (7.18%) at Rs1,472.30 and Gujarat NRE C (7.16%) at Rs75.90.

From the telecommunication sector, Idea Cellular is trading down by (8.48%) at Rs76.10 along with Tata Communications by (7.33%) at Rs395.50, Reliance Com Ltd down by (6.57%) at Rs365.60 and Bharti Airtel by (1.91%) at Rs764.00.

In auto sector Tata Motors is down by (5.89%) at Rs388.80 followed by Hero Honda Motors lower by (2.50%) at Rs817.00, M&M Ltd down by (1.48%) at Rs540.05 and Maruti Suzuki by (0.05%) at Rs703.00.

From cement sector Grasim Indus is trading lower by (4.01%) at Rs1900.00, followed by Ambuja Cement down by (3.64%) at Rs76.85 and ACC Ltd by (3.38%) at Rs572.05.

Satyam Computers is trading lower by (8.99%) at Rs370.00 after a report that the company may fire about 9% of its employees along with deepening credit crisis in the U.S. that will force clients to reduce orders further
