The markets are still trading under extreme pressure and are not showing any signs of recovery. Further the weakness in the European market also added to the sentiments. The Realty, IT, Metal, Power and Banking stocks have got hammered severely. The BSE Mid Cap and the BSE Small Cap both are trading with a cut of more than 5% each.
Among the global markets, the European markets are trading in red backed by the news that Lehman Brothers has filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
The overall market breadth is negative as 221 stocks are advancing while 2316 stocks are declining in BSE.
Reliance Infra reported the top loser from the BSE Sensex pack. It is trading lower by (10.15%) at Rs.835 followed by Satyam Computer down by (9.08%) at Rs.369.65.
At 2.31PM BSE Sensex is at 13,389.26 down by 611.55 points and Nifty is at 4,030.90 down by 197.55 points.
The BSE Mid Cap is lower by 299.18 points at 5,237.96 and the BSE Small Cap slipped by 366.44 points to 6,345.10.
The BSE Realty index is the one of the top loser today trading with a loss of 410.80 points at 4,282.92. The main losers are HDIL down by (13.15%) at Rs.238.15, Ansal Infra decreased by (13.40%) at Rs.76.60 followed by Unitech and Sobha Developers declined by (9.25%) and (7.83%) to Rs.140.80 and Rs.240 respectively.
The most active shares on NSE are Reliance Industries trading at Rs.1858 with a total traded quantity of 3821091 shares followed by Reliance Capital trading at Rs.1062.10 with a total traded quantity of 4887209 shares
