The markets today open marginally lower and turned choppy. The buying is seen in the IT, Consumer Durables, Bank, FMCG and Auto stocks. However, the Realty and Capital Goods stocks are trading lower. The BSE Sensex is now trading above the 15100 mark and the NSE Nifty is hovering above the 4500 mark.
The overall market breadth is positive as 873 stocks are advancing whereas 792 stocks are declining on BSE.
HDFC reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading with a gain of (2.52%) at Rs.2,456.10 while Bharti Airtel reported the top loser down by (2.61%) at Rs.847.
At 10.30AM, the BSE Sensex was down by 39.98 points at 15,034.56 and the Nifty was down by 14.65 points to 4,502.90.
The BSE Mid Cap decreased by 0.82 points to 5,854.59 while the BSE Small Cap advanced by 4.46 points to 7,148.59.
BSE Bank index surged by 109.05 points to trade at 7,344.43. The major gainers are PNB, Bank of India, bank of Baroda and AXIS Bank grew by (2.26%), (1.52%), (1.32%) and (1.08%) to Rs.508, Rs.304.20, Rs.284.70 and Rs.752 respectively.
BSE IT index advanced by 52.29 points to trade at 3,975.96. The top gainers are Mphasis increased by (2.62%) to Rs.227, Tech Mahindra up by (1.38%) to Rs.780, Satyam Computer inclined by (1.28%) to Rs.412.60 followed by Infosys Technologies grew by (1.22%) to Rs.1,719.60.
Gail India is trading higher by (0.66%) at Rs.456.15. The company is planning to invest about Rs.769 crore in oil and gas exploration in India and abroad during the current financial year.
