The markets today open lower on the back of weak cues from the global markets. The selling pressure witnessed in the Banking, Oil & Gas, Auto and Realty stocks. However, the buying support is seen in the Metal, IT and Pharma stocks. The BSE Sensex however managed to trade above the 15000 mark and the NSE Nifty above the 4500 mark. The BSE Mid Cap and BSE Small cap are however trading higher in the opening bell.
The overall market breadth is negative as 657 stocks are advancing whereas 803 stocks are declining on BSE.
Sterlite Industries reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading with a gain of (2.67%) at Rs.613 while ICICI Bank reported the top loser down by (3.68%) at Rs.711.25.
At 10.30AM, the BSE Sensex was down by 88.81 points at 15,123.32 and the Nifty was down by 27.35 points to 4,524.90.
The BSE Mid Cap increased by 35.53 points to 5,971.06 and the BSE Small Cap advanced by 10.68 points to 7,231.10.
BSE Metal index advanced by 106.64 points to trade at 12,767.37. The major gainers are Sterlite Industries, Ispat Industries, Tata Steel and SAIL grew by (2.67%), (2%), (1.69%) and (1.15%) to Rs.613, Rs.28, Rs.618.20 and Rs.145.35 respectively.
BSE Bank index dropped by 159.85 points to trade at 7,277.42. The top losers are ICICI Bank decreased by (3.68%) to Rs.711.25, HDFC Bank down by (2.58%) to Rs.1,231.35, Bank of Baroda declined by (2.50%) to Rs.277.30 followed by PNB grew by (2.10%) to Rs.488.
