Market Across The Board Of Increase - July 17, 2009

Market after a strong start, the key benchmark indices nudged higher on revival of annual monsoon this month and firm global market publicized sentiments. Further, the Indian government raged up its borrowing plan by nearly a quarter for the fiscal first half to September 2009 to bridge its growing budget deficit.

Way forward, the government would borrow an additional Rs 1,10,000 crore ($22.6 billion) from next week up to 30 September 2009 which mean it would have completed around 66% of its full-year record borrowing target of Rs 4,51,000 crore in the first half.

On the sectoral front, all indices gained. Oil exploration stocks gained despite crude oil fell in New Youk, as the US dollar gained against euro, restricting the appeal of commodities as an investment.

IT stock gained momentum on hopes of a revival in US economy. Bank stocks advanced after the Finance Minister said early this week that the government is committed to financial sector reforms.

Shipping stocks improved as the Baltic Dry Index, a measure of shipping costs for commodity surged 5.3% in London overnight.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was strong. On BSE, out of 2,586 stocks traded so far, 1,738 shares advanced while 743 shares declined. Nearly 105 shares are unchanged.

Tthe BSE Sensex is trading higher by 430.46 points at 14,680.71 whereas NSE Nifty is up by 129.50 points at 4,360.90.

The BSE Mid Cap is trading higher by 104.71 points at 5,095.13 and Small cap is trading up by 124.59 points at 5,670.15.

Major gainers from the BSE Sensex pack are Tata Motors Limited surged 6.97% to Rs. 316.85 along with Mahindra & Mahindra Limited 6.32% to Rs. 766.00, ICICI Bank Limited spurted 5.04% to Rs. 730.05, Bharti Airtel Limited improved 5.02% to Rs. 825.00, Jaiprakash Associates Limited advanced 4.78% to Rs. 208.05, TCS Limited improved 4.77% to Rs. 440.50 and DLF Limited gained 4.76% to Rs. 332.05 among others.

Losers from the BSE Sensex Pack are Sun Pharmaceuticals Limited plunged 0.55% to Rs. 1,210.00 along with Sterlite Industries (India) Limited plunged 0.45% to Rs. 587.50, Hindustan Uniliver Limited 0.30% to Rs. 266.00 and ACC Limited slipped 0.02% to Rs. 796.80.

The BSE Auto is higher by 213.94 points or 4.44% at 5,034.94. Stocks trading in green are Exide Industries Limited surged 9.63% to Rs. 77.40, Tata Motors Limited 6.97% to Rs. 316.85, Amtek Auto Limited 6.78% to Rs. 99.25, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited improved 6.33% to Rs. 766.10 and Hero Honda Motors Limited 4.73% to Rs. 1,611.00 among others.

Exide Industries Limited zoomed 9.63% to Rs. 77.40 after net profit increased phenomenally 48.9% to Rs 122.40 crore in Q1 June 2009 as against Q1 June 2008.

Anu''s Laboratories Limited jumped 6.94% to Rs. 30.05 after the company fixed 27 July 2009 as the record date for a liberal 1:1 bonus issue.

Larsen & Toubro Limited gained 2.69% to Rs. 1,415.10 as the company said it is hopeful to maintain its guidance of 25% growth in order book in the current fiscal.

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited advanced 3.15% to Rs. 186.50 after it posted better-than-expected results on the back of aggressive cost cutting measures.

PBA Infrastructure Limited spurted 12.49% to Rs. 58.10 after the company bagged fresh orders aggregating Rs 70.80 crore.

Sterlite Industries (India) Limited plunged 0.45% to Rs. 587.50, on concerns of equity dilution after the company raised $1.5 billion from an issue of American Depositary Shares

JK Tyre & Industries Limited spurted 10.72% to Rs. 89.85 after net profit increased in triple digit 101.3% to Rs 40.75 crore in Q1 June 2009 as against Q1 June 2008.

Market Rebounds Smartly From Its Low - July 01, 2009

After subdued opening, the key benchmark Indices dipped in red in early trade latter swinging between the positive and negative terrain. The volatility griped the market after it pared its early gains on concerns about flood in share sales following a rush to raise funds by India Inc. Meanwhile, QIPs have been aggressively selling hitting the momentum of the market.

The uncertainty on trading floors about whether the market looked set to establish a clear sense of direction in the medium term lingered by upcoming budget and building hopes on India Inc.

On the sectoral front, out of 13 Indices, 12 indices advanced whereas 1 index declined. FCCG stocks advanced on buzz consumption have not declined due to the delay in the onset of monsoons.

Moreover, the sector edged higher in a weak market on defensive buying. Cement stocks retreated on recent reports prices are likely to soften by Rs. 3-5 per 50 Kg bag this month due to the duel effect of excess supply and lower demand.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was negative. On BSE, out of 2,460 stocks traded so far, 1,019 shares advanced while 1,351 shares declined. Nearly 90 shares are unchanged.

The BSE Sensex is trading higher by 180.26 points at 14,674 whereas NSE Nifty is up by 44.79 points at 4,335.90.

The BSE Mid Cap is trading higher by 39.14 points at 5,115.49 and Small cap is trading up by 1.02 points at 5,741.07.

Major gainers from the BSE Sensex pack are DLF Limited surged 4.41% to Rs. 324.50 along with Bharti Airtel Limited 3.13% to Rs. 827.20, Tata Motors Limited gained 2.64% to Rs. 298.85, Hindustan Uniliver Limited improved 2.38% to Rs. 273.45, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited advanced 2.06% to Rs. 706.80, ICICI Bank Limited jumped 1.83% to Rs. 735.20, Infosys Technologies Limited gained 1.75% to Rs. 1,808.00., Sterlite Industries Limited gained 1.59% to Rs. 617.50 and Housing Development Finance Co improved 1.56% to Rs. 2,382.00 among others.

Losers from the BSE Sensex Pack are Hindalco Industries Limited plunged 4.74% to Rs. 82.35 along with ACC Limited by 1.16% to Rs. 760.00 and ONGC Limited slipped 1.15% to Rs. 1,054.80.

The BSE Realty is higher by 113.71 points or 3.55% at 3,320.90. Stocks trading in green are Indiabulls Realty 8.07% to Rs. 211.50, DLF Limited 4.41% to Rs. 324.50, Unitech Limited 2.01% to Rs. 81.20, Housing Development by 1.61% to Rs. 236.45 and Phoenix Mills 1.50% to Rs. 101.50 among others.

EIH Limited plunged 0.79% to Rs. 125.00, after consolidated net profit dipped 23.27% to Rs. 169.95 crore in the year ended March 2009 over the year ended March 2008.

United Spirits Limited gained 1.02% to Rs. 881.95 on buzz private equity majors like KKR, Blackstone and Capital International are in race to acquire stake in the company.

Marg Limited gained 0.04% to Rs. 111.70 despite the company reported consolidated net loss of Rs. 34.62 crore in the year ended March 2009 as against net profit of Rs. 24.71 crore in the year ended March 2008.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited gained 0.24% to Rs. 1,068.05 after total vehicle sales increased phenomenally 22.63% to Rs 75,109 units in June 2009 over June 2008.

Nagarjuna Construction Company Limited gained 0.52% to Rs. 135.50 after the company bagged fresh orders aggregating Rs. 797 crore.

Suzlon Energy Limited zoomed 2.36% to Rs. 106.15 on bargain hunting after the stock fell 16% in the preceding two trading sessions.

Glodyne Technoserve Limited surged 3.30% to Rs. 480.00 after the company''s board of directors recommended a liberal 1:1 bonus issue.

BEML Limited gained 1.09% to Rs. 1,082.80 extending recent strong gains lingered by good Q4 March 2009 results.

Larsen & Toubro Limited improved 1.51% to Rs. 1,592.00 after the company bagged two orders aggregating Rs. 651 crore in the hydrocarbon sector.

Gujarat State Petronet Limited gained 1.14% to Rs. 48.80 after net profit increased phenomenally 23.5% to Rs. 123.41 crore in the year ended March 2009 over the year ended March 2008.

Market Trading Calm Resting On Explosive Assembly - May 28, 2009

After a subdued opening the volatility seems to have caught the day''s trade ahead of F&O expiry today. The mixed global cues are also adding fuel to fire the volatility. In a major concern, the global rating agency Moody''s Investors Service said India''s credit rating may come under pressure if the government is not bale to restrict its widening budget deficit.

On the sectoral front, out of 13 Indices, majority of the Indices were trading in green while Banking, Health Care and Consumer durables were under pressure. Metal stocks traded mixed as copper dropped around 2% on the London Metal Exchange overnight.

Capital Goods stocks advanced on expectations of increased infrastructure spending by the UPA government to boost growth. Healthcare stocks gained on hopes UPA government will give primary importance to healthcare segment and health of citizens.

Realty stocks continued its gains on expectations that stability at the Centre will attract more FDI into the sector which in turn will boost growth.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was strong. On BSE, out of 2,703 stocks traded so far, 1,717 shares advanced while 927 shares declined. Nearly 59 shares are unchanged.

The BSE Sensex is trading higher by 189.20 points at 14,308 and NSE Nifty is up by 53.39 points at 4,329.45.

The BSE Mid Cap is trading higher by 44.88 points at 4,942.25 and Small cap is trading up by 33.06 points at 5,830.80.

Major gainers from the BSE Sensex pack are Mahindra & Mahindra Limited spurted 4.59% to Rs. 654.00 along with Larsen & Toubro Limited advanced 3.88% to Rs. 1,362.30, Tata Steel Limited by 3.13% to Rs. 384.95, Sterlite Industries by 3.70% to Rs. 613.00, Bharti Airtel Limited spurted 2.94% to Rs. 791.50, ACC Limited by 2.60% to Rs. 727.50, TCS Limited by 2.39% to Rs. 660.45, Maruti Suzuki Limited by 2.35% to Rs. 996.50 and Reliance Industries Limited 2.29% to Rs. 2,237.20 among others.

Losers from the BSE Sensex Pack are ACC Limited plunged 1.68% to Rs. 698.30 along with Tata Motors Limited fell 3.87% to Rs. 330.25, Reliance Infra Limited by 2.65% to Rs. 1,254.00, ICICI Bank Limited slipped 0.55% to Rs. 706.65 and Jaiprakash Associates Limited by 0.34% to Rs. 189.65 among others.

The BSE Metals is higher by 317.56 points or 3.09% at 10,584.35. Stocks trading in green are NMDC Limited spurted 8.57% to Rs. 416.85, JSW Steel Limited surged 7.96% to Rs. 557.00, Steel Authority of India by 6.58% to Rs. 164.35, Jai Corp 4.99%% to Rs. 261.10 and Sterlite Industries by 3.70% to Rs. 613.00.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited rose 0.71% to Rs. 2,093.00, on profit taking after a recent sharp surge.

LIC Housing Finance Limited surged 7.30% to Rs. 513.60 after the company said its board will meet on 1 June 2009 to consider issuing shares on a preferential basis and qualified institutional placement of shares.

Torrent Power Limited fell nearly 0.11% to Rs. 142.10 after a block deal of five lakh shares was executed on NSE at Rs 144 per share.

Bharti Airtel Limited spurted 2.94% to Rs. 791.50 on value buying after the stock fell 10.36% in the preceding three trading sessions.

Religare Enterprises zoomed 2.28% to Rs. 464.90 on reports it is in talks with Swiss Re, the world''s second-largest re-insurer, to form a joint venture health insurance company in India.

Larsen & Toubro Limited advanced 3.88% to Rs. 1,362.30 ahead of its Q4 March 2009 results later today, 28 May 2009

Jindal Steel & Power Limited rose 0.25% to Rs. 2,086.20 after consolidated net profit jumped 140.65% to Rs 3007.15 crore in the year ended March 2009 over the year ended March 2008.

Novartis India Limited jumped 14.19% to Rs. 444.90 after its Swiss parent raised open offer price to Rs. 450 a share from Rs. 351 a share earlier.
