Markets Are Trading In Red Consumer Durables Index Are Higher - Dec 24, 2008

The markets are still trading lower with a deep cut as profit booking continues among the Realty, Auto, FMCG, Power, Oil & Gas and IT stocks. The volatility still persists ahead of the expiry of the December derivative contract. However, Banking and the Consumer Durables index are trading higher. The BSE Mid Cap and the Small Cap stocks are also trading lower with a cut of around 1% each.

The BSE Sensex is now trading below the 9,600 mark and the NSE Nifty below the 2,934 mark.

The overall market breadth is negative as 815 stocks are advancing while 1480 stocks are declining in BSE.

Ranbaxy Laboratories reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack. It is trading higher by (2.50%) at Rs.219 while Tata Motors the top loser down by (7.09%) at Rs. 162.45.

At 2.32PM BSE Sensex is at 9,595.95 down by 90.80 points and Nifty is at 2,934.05 down by 34.60 points.

The BSE Mid Cap is lower by 24.79 points at 3,151.02 and BSE Small Cap slipped by 37.23 points to 3,601.95.

The Realty index is trading with losses of 118.46 points or (4.92%) at 2,287.92. Pulling it are Unitech trading lower by (13%) at Rs 36.80 along with HDIL by (8.14%) at Rs133.70, Omaxe by (5.75%) at Rs60.65, Orbitco by (5.40%) at Rs60.45, Indiabull Real by (5.32%) at Rs133.50, Ansal Infra by (5.04%) at Rs32, Sobha Dev by (4.35%) at Rs104.65, Akruti City by (2.34%) at Rs613.90.

The Auto index is down by 43.23 points or (1.75%) at 2,420.78. Losers are Tata Motors trading down by (7.06%) at Rs162.50 in line with Escorts by (3.83%) at Rs38.95, Bajaj Auto by (3.41%) at Rs392, M&M by (2.50%) at Rs283, Maruti Suzuki by (1.55%) at Rs505, Bharat Forge by (1.29%) at Rs83.85 and MRF by (1.09%) at Rs1915.

The most active shares on NSE are Satyam Computer trading at Rs.131.20 with a total traded quantity of 68202315 shares followed by Reliance Industries trading at Rs.1,247 with a total traded quantity of 2133122 shares.

MARKETS ARE TRADING WEAK. - Sep 12, 2008

The markets are still trading weak as selling pressure continued in the Realty, Banking, Oil & Gas and Consumer Durables stocks. The IT index has underperformed the entire benchmark index today. However, some buying is seen in the Auto, power, Capital Goods and Metal stocks after the IIP data was announced.

The IIP data came in better than expected as it rose 7.1% in July 2008 as against 5.4% in the previous month. The figure was above market expectations of a 6.5% growth. Capital Goods showed a descent growth to 21.9% as compared to 12.3%(YoY). However, growth in manufacturing declined to 7.5% from 8.8%(YoY).

Among the global markets, the European markets are trading in positive.

The overall market breadth is negative as 761 stocks are advancing while 1775 stocks are declining in BSE.

Tata Motors reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack. It is trading higher by (1.21%) at Rs.423.60 while ONGC the top loser down by (3.85%) at Rs.1,035.10.

At 2.31PM BSE Sensex is at 14,138.19 down by 186.10 points and Nifty is at 4,265 down by 25.30 points.

The BSE Mid Cap is lower by 56.45 points at 5,590.75 and the BSE Small Cap slipped by 49.16 points to 6,769.77.

The BSE IT index is the one of the top loser today trading with a loss of 145.03 points at 3,845.41. The main losers are Infosys Technologies down by (5.03%) at Rs.1,661, Satyam Computer decreased by (3.12%) at Rs.408 followed by HCL Technologies and TCS declined by (2.95%) and (2.11%) to Rs.230.65 and Rs.818.50 respectively.

The most active shares on NSE are Reliance Industries trading at Rs.1965 with a total traded quantity of 4574559 shares followed by ICICI Bank trading at Rs.663.50 with a total traded quantity of 7229146 shares

Markets Are Trading On Pleasant Note - Sep 8, 2008

Indian Markets continues to trade on pleasant note on significant buying over the counters led by approval for India from the NSG of 45 nations for the nuclear deal. The BSE Sensex is trading above 15,000 mark and NSE Nifty is above 4,500 level. All indices are trading in green and among that Capital Goods, Bank, Oil & Gas, Metal and Reality stocks are witnessing most of the buying from these baskets. Among the Sensex pack, all 30 stocks are trading in green.

At 1.30PM, the BSE Sensex is trading higher by 574.70 points at 15,058.53 and NSE Nifty is up by 161.19 points at 4,512.50.

The BSE Mid Cap is trading higher by 101.47 points at 5,855.19 and Small Cap is up by 117.48 points at 7,022.71.

Gainers from the BSE are ICICI Bank Ltd trading higher by (6.61%) at Rs732.55 in line with Reliance Infra by (6.12%) at Rs1,078.00, NTPC Ltd by (5.79%) at Rs183.50, DLF Ltd by (5.37%) at Rs521.00, HDFC Bank Ltd by (5.09%) at Rs1,311.00, HDFC by (5.05%) at Rs2,696.15, JP Associates by (4.93%) at Rs175.75 and BHEL (4.75%) at Rs1,814.00.

The BSE Capital Goods index is trading higher by 581.86 points at Rs12,562.46 as Wallchand In is trading up by (15.83%) at Rs308.10 along with Alstom Proje (8.18%) at Rs429.00, Areva (5.87%) at Rs1,720.30, L&T Ltd by (5.66%) at Rs2,764.25 and BHEL (5.48%) at Rs1,826.60.

The BSE Bank index is trading up by 366.79 points at Rs7,539.64. Scrips trading higher are ICICI Bank Ltd (6.56%) at Rs732.25 followed by ICICI Bank Ltd by (5.09%) at Rs1,301100, SBI (4.71%) at Rs1,590.00, Kotak Bank (4.45%) at Rs631.50 and Axis Bank by (4.14%) at Rs715.00.

From the telecommunication sector, Tata Communications is trading up by (6.26%) at Rs452.20 along with Reliance Com Ltd by (3.54%) at Rs408.45, Idea Cellular by (2.71%) at Rs83.35 and Bharti Airtel is higher by (1.69%) at Rs817.00.

In auto sector Maruti Suzuki is up by (4.25%) at Rs709.15 followed by Tata Motors up by (3.55%) at Rs434.95, M&M Ltd by (2.15%) at Rs595.40 and Hero Honda Motors by (1.60%) at Rs874.00.

From cement sector Grasim Indus is trading higher by (4.85%) at Rs2,049.70, followed by Ambuja Cement up by (4.35%) at Rs84.00 and ACC Ltd by (3.58%) at Rs605.90

Markets Are Trading Higher Despite Slower Q1 GDP Growth - 29 Aug 08

Markets are trading higher despite slower Q1 GDP growth. India’s Q1 GDP growth slows to 7.9% from 8.8% of previous quarter. Domestic markets today opened on strong note on positive global cues and drop in inflation number to 12.40% in the week ended August 16 2008, as against 12.63% in previous week. Huge buying is visible mainly in Capital Goods, Bank, Metal, Oil & Gas, Reality and IT stocks. Among the Sensex pack 29 stocks are trading in green and only 1 is trading in red.

At 1.30PM, the BSE Sensex is trading higher by 425.53 points at 14,473.88 and NSE Nifty is up by 121.25 points at 4,335.25.

The BSE Mid Cap is trading higher by 107.59 points at 5,716.45 and Small Cap is up by 91.22 points at 6,873.52.

Gainers from the BSE are SBI trading higher by (6.04%) at Rs1,388.50 in line with ICICI Bank Ltd by (5.77%) at Rs670.50, Reliance Infra by (4.93%) at Rs981.40, BHEL by (4.86%) at Rs1,708.00, HDFC Bank Ltd by (4.47%) at Rs1,269.70, JP Associates by (4.16%) at Rs162.60, HDFC by (4.06%) at Rs2339.00 and Tata Steel (3.62%) at Rs592.50.

Only one loser from BSE is Grasim Industries down by (0.10%) at Rs1935.00.

The BSE Bank index is trading higher by 356.08 points at Rs6,952.49 as Canara Bank is trading up by (6.94%) at Rs214.05 along with OBC (6.81%) at Rs163.10, Union Bank by (6.48%) at Rs140.55, Kotak Bank (6.38%) at Rs592.30 and SBI (6.03%) at Rs12,388.40.

The Capital Goods index is trading up by 352.57 points at Rs11,845.07 as Punj Lloyd is trading higher by (6.15%) at Rs297.90 along with SKF India (5.37%) at Rs232.70, BHEL by (4.80%) at Rs1,707.05, Lakshmi MA W (4.13%) at Rs1,068.80 and Suzlon Energy (3.39%) at Rs215.20.

From the telecommunication sector, Tata Communications is trading higher by (4.72%) at Rs413.50 followed by Reliance Com Ltd trading up by (3.82%) at Rs399.55, Idea Cellular by (2.54%) at Rs82.85 and Bharti Airtel by (2.05%) at Rs821.00.

In auto sector Tata Motors is up by (3.96%) at Rs431.90 along with Maruti Suzuki is trading higher by (2.80%) at Rs647.00, Hero Honda Motors by (0.93%) at Rs829.75, and M&M Ltd by (0.76%) at Rs573.05.

From cement sector Ambuja Cement is trading higher by (2.22%) at Rs80.45, and ACC Ltd is up by (2.01%) at Rs559.20, while Grasim Indus is lower by (0.0.11%) at Rs1,934.00.

BHEL is trading higher by (4.86%) at Rs1,708.00. The company has bagged Rs11.55bn contract for setting up 2x270 MW thermal power generating units at Goindwal Sahib coal fired Thermal Power Project in Tarn Taran district, near Amritsar in Punjab from GVK Power Ltd
