The markets though managed to gain some ground from the day’s low but once again gave up their gains and are trading around the unchanged mark. The traders are cautios to take any fresh positions and want to remain in the sidelines ahead of the F&O expiry on Thursday. However, the broader market indices are attracting significant attention today as both the BSE Mid Cap is now trading with a gain of around 1% and BSE Small cap indices with a gain of more than 1.5%.
The Realty, Auto, Power and Metal stocks are witnessing significant buying interest today. While selling pressure continued among the Banking, Oil & Gas and IT stocks.
The overall market breadth is positive as 1680 stocks are advancing while 910 stocks are declining in BSE.
Tata Motors reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading up by (12.21%) at Rs. 420.75 while HUL reported the top loser trading down by (3.65%) at Rs. 287.85.
The BSE Sensex is trading up by 19.38 points at 15,394.27 and the NSE Nifty is trading marginally higher by 5.05 points at 4,577.35.
The BSE Mid Cap increased by 68.38 points to 5,537.88 and the BSE Small Cap grew by 115.22 points to 6,257.96.
The Realty index is trading with gains of 154.53 points or 3.95% at 4,063.24. Gainers from this pack are Mahindra Life trading up by 7.51% at Rs. 299.25 along with Unitech by 6.70% at Rs. 93.90, Phoenix Mill by 5.21% at Rs. 120.10, HDIL by 5.08% at Rs. 289.40, Sobha Developers by 3.98% at Rs. 217.90, Anant Raj In by 3.95% at Rs. 130.20 and DLF by 3.65% at Rs. 427.15.
The Bankex index is trading with losses of 122.50 points or 1.47% at 8,206.83. Losers from this pack are Bank of India trading lower by 2.51% at Rs. 324.45 followed by ICICI bank by 2.20% at Rs. 740.95, Kotak bank by 1.74% at Rs. 657.25, Oriental bank by 1.52% at Rs. 165.70, HDFC bank by 1.42% at Rs. 1414.20, Karnataka bank by 1.41% at Rs. 140 and State Bank of India by 1.29% at Rs. 1687.50.
The most active shares on NSE are Unitech trading at Rs. 95.30 with a total traded quantity of 90504798 shares followed by Ispat Inds trading at Rs. 23.10 with a total traded quantity of 36851769 shares.
Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Limited (RCF) is trading up by 6.25% at Rs. 69.70.The company has posted a net profit of Rs 315.50 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2009 as compared to Rs 190.60 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2008.
Total Income has decreased from Rs 15735.80 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2008 to Rs 8545.60 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2009.
On the global markets front, the European markets are now trading higher as the FTSE 100, DAX and CAC index are trading up by (0.18%), (0.28%) and (0.30%) respectively.
