Market In A Straight Line Broken Down Positive - July 24, 2009

After starting off with a positive bias due to firm Asian Markets, the key benchmark indices have erased early gains and have slipped sharply from day''s high. The blue chip stocks are facing extreme resistance at higher level. On a stock specific move, Idea cellular is trading higher by 5% after it posted better than expected 13% growth in consolidated net profit at Rs 297 crore in the June quarter on the back of robust subscriber addition.

During the last hours'' trading session, buying interest has emerged across Auto, Consumer Duarble (CD) and Realty stocks while selling pressure has seen across FMCG and Banking counters.

Among the BSE sectoral indices Auto, Consumer Duarble (CD) and Realty stocks surged by 2.42%, 2.02% and 1.93% respectively, while the FMCG and Bankex indices dipped by 0.89% and 0.45% respectively.

Out of the total 2,266 stocks traded at BSE, 1,465 Advanced, 724 declined while 77 remained unchanged.

The BSE Sensex up by 18.35 points at 15,249.4 while NSE Nifty surged by 8.9 points at 4,532.65.

Besides, the BSE Mid Cap and Small Cap are trading higher by 61.93 points and 65.53 points at 5,355.3 and 6,008.39 respectively.

Gainers from the BSE Sensex Pack are Maruti suzuki up by (4.18%) to Rs. 1,349.75, along with Tata Motors by (3.64%) to Rs. 352.80, DLF Limited by (3.21%) to Rs. 381.50, Tata Steel by (2.71%) at Rs. 426, Sterlite Industries by (2.37%) at Rs. 647.70, and BHEL Limited by (2.10%) at Rs. 2,213.

Gainers from the NSE Nifty Pack are Suzlon Energy increased by (4.25%) at Rs. 100.5, along with Maruti Suzuki by (3.97%) at Rs. 1,347.25, Idea Cellular by (3.78%) at Rs. 80.95, DLF Limited by (3.68%) at Rs. 383.55, ABB Limited by (3.65%) at Rs. 743.8 and Tata Motors by (3.36%) at Rs. 351.8.

BSE Auto is trading higher by (2.42%) or 127.83 points at 5,402.06. The top gainers are Bharat Forge surged by (8.60%) at Rs. 173 along with Amtek auto by (7.67%) at Rs. 125, MRF Limited by (5.32%) to Rs. 3,700, Maruti suzuki by (4.21%) at Rs. 1,350 followed by Tata Motors by (3.45%) at Rs. 352.15.

BSE Realty is trading higher by (2.02%) or 73.58 points at 3,709.27. The top gainers in the index are Phoenix Mill surged by (5.95%) to Rs. 106 along with Orbit Co by (4.98%) to Rs. 173.95, Parsvnath by (3.90%) to 107.80, DLF Limited by (3.21%) to Rs. 381.50, followed by Ansal Infra by (2.66%) to Rs. 57.85.
