Market after opening on a buoyant note, the benchmark indices are trading with strong positive sentiments on the back of firm global cues and splendid result from IT major TCS. The BSE sensex breezed past the crucial 15k mark but was unable to sustain for a long as few front line stocks are facing stiff resistance at higher level.
On a stock specific news, IT major TCS is trading higher by nearly 15% after it posted better than expected performance in the first quarter ended FY09-10.
During the last hours'' trading session, buying interest has emerged across IT, TECk and Oil & Gas stocks while selling interest has seen across FMCG counters.
Among the BSE sectoral indices IT, TECk and Oil & Gas stocks surged by 6.31%, 3.84% and 1.97% respectively, while the FMCG index dipped by 0.54%. Out of the total 2,155 stocks traded at BSE, 1,456 Advanced, 625 declined while 74 remained unchanged.
The BSE Sensex up by 197.72 points at 14,942.64 while NSE Nifty surged by 49.6 points at 4,424.55. Besides, the BSE Mid Cap and Small Cap are trading higher by 85.27 points and 101.46 points at 5,190.86 and 5,782.36 respectively.
Gainers from the BSE Sensex Pack are TCS Limited down by (13.81%) to Rs. 493.50, along with Wipro Limited by (10.39%) to Rs. 474, Infosys Tech by (4.70%) to Rs. 1,954.75, Jai Prakash associates by (3.03%) at Rs. 219.30, Sterlite Industries Limited by (2.83%) at Rs. 604.30, and Reliance industries by (2.30%) at Rs.1,977.8.
Gainers from the NSE Nifty Pack are TCS increased by (14.16%) at Rs. 495.55, along with Wipro Limited by (10.69%) at Rs. 475.35, HCL Tech by (6.10%) at Rs. 228.6, Infosys Tech by (4.70%) at Rs. 1,954.1, Sterlite Industries by (2.84%) at Rs. 605 and Unitech Limited by (2.82%) at Rs. 78.4.
BSE IT is trading higher by (6.31%) or 221.25 points at 3,726.53. The top gainers in the index are TCS Limited surged by (13.81%) to Rs. 493.50 along with Wipro Limited by (10.39%) to Rs. 474, Mphasis Limited by (7.89%) to 416.55, HCL Tech by (5.89%) to Rs. 228.50 followed by Patni Computers by (5.13%) to Rs. 298.05.
BSE Oil & Gas is trading higher by (1.97%) or 181.20 points at 9,376. The top gainers are Aban offshore increased by (5.58%) at Rs. 904.10 along with
Essare Oil Limited by (2.66%) at Rs. 140.65, Cairn India by (2.33%) at Rs. 237.65, Reliance Industries by (2.30%) to Rs. 1,977.8 followed by Reliance Petroleum by (2.11%) at Rs. 123.30.
