Market Bringing Up The Rear Momentum - July 16, 2009

Market after opening on a buoyant note, on the back of strong global cues the frontline stocks are now oozing out early gains due to profit booking pressure at higher levels. On a stock specific move, Tata Teleservices Maharashtra Limited is trading higher by nearly 1% after a news that company is interested to pick up majority stake in Matrix Cellular Services.

During the last hours'' trading session, buying interest has emerged across Capital Goods (CG), Consumer Durable (CD) and Realty stocks while selling pressure has seen across Healthcare (HC) and FMCG counters.

Among the BSE sectoral indices CG, CD and Realty stocks surged by 2.18%, 1.63% and 1.51% respectively, while the HC and FMCG indices dipped by 0.21% and 0.05% respectively. Overall the market breadth is positive as 1,498 stocks are trading in green while 623 stocks are in red.

Tthe BSE Sensex up by 84.55 points at 14,337.6 while NSE Nifty surged by 20.44 points at 4,253.95.

Besides, the BSE Mid Cap and Small Cap are trading higher by 54.36 points and 68.09 points at 5,033.01 and 5,591.9 respectively.

Gainers from the BSE Sensex Pack are Tata Steel up by (4.27%) to Rs. 396.45, along with Tata Motors by (3.79%) to Rs. 299.60, Reliance Communication by (2.48%) to Rs. 268.25, Reliance Industries by (2.29%) at Rs. 1,918, ACC Limited by (2.22%) at Rs. 825, and Tata Power by (2.20%) at Rs.1,128.25.

Gainers from the NSE Nifty Pack are Tata Steel increased by (4.10%) at Rs. 396.5 along with Tata Motors by (4.04%) at Rs. 300.2, Tata Power by (2.58%) at Rs. 1,132.5, Unitech Limited by (2.09%) at Rs. 75.65, RPL by (2.01%) at Rs. 119.55 and Tata Communication by (1.97%) at Rs. 479.9.

BSE CG is trading higher by (2.18%) or 261.88 points at 12,278.03. The top gainers are Reliance Industrial Infrastructure surged by (11.28%) at Rs. 1,014.95 along with Everest Kanto by (4.36%) to Rs. 182, Crompton Greavs by (3.39%) at Rs. 295.75, Kalpat power by (3.34%) at Rs. 724 followed by Thermax Limited by (2.97%) at Rs. 440.

BSE CD is trading higher by (1.63%) or 46.04 points at 2,871.43. The top gainers in the index are Gitanjali GE surged by (2.66%) to Rs. 100.35 along with Blue Star Limited by (1.71%) to Rs. 331.05, Rajesh Exports by (1.33%) to 38.15, Titan Industries by (1.11%) to Rs. 1,189 followed by Videocon Industries by (0.43%) to Rs. 164.1.
