Market Trading Firm Support Through Large-Scale Cues - June 19, 2009

After a gap up opening, the major Indian bourses are trading with fair gains after a heavy loss over the last couple of sessions. The equities of major indices bounced back strongly on account of sharp surge in global markets on the back of some positive data from US. On a stock specific news, Jaiprakash associates trading higher by nearly 3% after construction and cement major has raised Rs 500 crore through sale of 2.5 crore treasury shares in a block deal on Thursday.

During the last hours’ trading session, buying interest has emerged across Capital Goods (CG), Metal and IT while selling pressure has emerged across PSU.

Among the BSE Sectoral indices CG , Metal and IT surged by 3.15%, 2.21% and 2.20% respectively.

Overall market breadth is positive. Out of the total 2,126 stocks traded at BSE, 1,164 advanced, 896 declined while 66 remained unchanged.

The BSE Sensex is surged by 170.09 points at 14,435.62 while NSE Nifty up by 35.25 points at 4,286.65. Besides, the BSE Mid Cap and Small Cap are trading higher by 75.98 points and 52.81 Points to 4,952.85 and 5,625.25 respectively.

Gainers from the BSE Sensex Pack are Tata Motors Limited surged by (4.11%) to Rs. 342.1, along with L&T by (3.72%) to Rs. 1,467.9, Tata Steel by (3.66%) at Rs. 403.25, Jaiprakash associate by (3.08%) at Rs. 197.2, Reliance Infrastructure by (2.94%) at Rs. 1,236.6 and Reliance Communication by (2.88%) at Rs. 307.4.

Gainers from the NSE Nifty Pack are Suzlon Energy Limited up by (6.10%) at Rs. 106.15 along with L&T by (4.04%) at Rs. 1,473, Tata Steel Limited by (3.95%) at Rs. 403.65, Tata Motors by (3.81%) at Rs. 342.05, TCS by (3.68%) at Rs. 390.25 and ABB Limited by (3.52%) at Rs. 735.1.

BSE CG is trading higher by (3.15%) or 369.04 points at 12,091.68. The top gainers in the index are SKF India surged by (6.66%) to Rs. 225.85 along with Suzlon Energy by (6.12%) to Rs. 106.6, Kalpat Power by (5.11%) to Rs. 715, Lakshmi Ma by (5.07%) to Rs. 960 followed by Alstom Project by (4.90%) at Rs. 446.

BSE Metal is trading higher by (2.21%) or 237.68 points at 10,975.06. The major gainers are JSW SL surged by (4.10%) at Rs. 596.95 along with Ispat Industries by (3.76%) at Rs. 22.10, Tata Steel by (3.66%) at Rs. 403.25 followed by Welsp Guj SR by (3.40%) at Rs.197.90.
