After opening on a rousing note this morning, the frontline stocks are continuously marching towards the northward on account of overnight rally in the US market and steady trend on most of the Asian bourses. Besides, today being the first session of new settlements in the derivatives segment turned investors bullish on some sector specific stocks.
However, investors will keep an eye on the GDP data, which is expected to be announced today. On a stock specific news, Reliance Power is trading higher by nearly 2% after an announcement that the company is in talks with Australian mining firms BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto for a coal mining joint venture to develop mines allocated to the company and supply coal to its power plants. During the last hours'' trading session, buying interest has emerged across all the sectoral indices.
Among the BSE sectoral indices, Realty, Captial Goods (CG) and Consumer Durable (CD) stocks gained by 5.18%, 3.70% and 3.35% respectively.
Overall the market breadth is positive as 2038 stocks are trading in green while 413 stocks are in red.
The BSE Sensex is up by 271.4 points at 14,567.42 while NSE Nifty surged by 77.75 points at 4,414.85. Besides, the BSE Mid Cap and Small Cap are trading higher by 127.56 points and 169.79 points at 5,063.13 and 5,981.49 respectively.
Gainers from the BSE Sensex Pack are Mahindra & Mahindra surged by (7.08%) to Rs. 684.05, along with Jai prakash associates by (6.54%) to Rs. 204.3, ACC Ld by (5.62%) at Rs. 761.8, TCS Limited by (4.59%) at Rs. 690.15, Bharti Airtel by (4.53%) at Rs. 831.2 and DLF Limited by (3.83%) at Rs. 386.25.
Gainers from the NSE Nifty Pack are Unitech Limited up by (7.08%) at Rs. 81.65 along with Mahindra & Mahindra by (7.02%) at Rs. 681.7, Bharti Airtel by (4.73%) at Rs. 833.55, ACC Limited by (4.34%) at Rs. 759.1, SAIL by (4.26%) at Rs. 171.5 and Siemens Limited by (4.17%) at Rs. 499.1.
BSE Realty is trading higher by (5.18%) or 185.39 points at 3,763.33. The major gainers are Phoenix mill up by (9.97%) at Rs. 137.90 along with Unitech Limited by (7.41%) at Rs. 81.90, Ansal Infras by (6.74%) at Rs. 65.75 followed by India bull real by (5.72%) at Rs. 238.45.
BSE CG is trading higher by (3.70%) or 423.24 points at 11,871.96. The top gainers in the index are AIA engineer surged by (13.66%) to Rs. 253.80 along with Jyoti Struct by (9.98%) to Rs. 143.85, Areva by (8.01%) to Rs. 340 followed by Alstom Project by (5.50%) at Rs. 472.
