The markets today opened higher on the back of positive global cues. But suddenly the markets turned volatile and slipped into the negative territory as selling pressure emerged among the selective scrips. The BSE Sensex crossed the 10,900 mark and the NSE Nifty hits the 3,400 mark in the early trade. The profit booking is seen among the FMCG, Oil & Gas, IT, Pharma and Power stocks. However, the capital Goods, Realty and Metal stocks hold up their gains. The broader market stocks are however trading marginally higher in the early trade.
At 10.34AM, the BSE Sensex was down by 13.24 points at 10,729.10 and the Nifty was down by 10.15 points to 3,332.80.
The BSE Mid Cap increased by 11.48 points to 3,314.07 and the BSE Small Cap grew by 13.75 points to 3,719.72.
The Asian markets are trading higher today as Hang Seng, Nikkei 255, Seoul Composite and Straits Times index are trading up by (2.31%), (3.05%), (3.43%) and (2.02%) respectively.
The US stock markets on Wednesday, ended higher backed by a late session rally in the market. The stocks started the session on a higher note helped by news that the Treasury is planning to extend bailout funds to insurers.
Further some merger news in the housing sector also led the market to gain some momentum. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) advanced by 47.55 points to close at 7,837.11. The NASDAQ Composite (RIXF) index increased by 29.05 points to close at 1,590.66 and the S&P 500 (SPX) grew by 9.61 points to close at 825.16.
Tata Motors reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading higher by (2.52%) at Rs. 227.90 while HUL reported the top loser down by (1.79%) at Rs. 236.50.
The overall market breadth is positive as 1126 stocks are advancing while 547 stocks are declining on BSE.
BSE Realty index is trading higher by 68.72 points or (3.55%) to trade at 2,005.13. The top gainers are Unitech increased by (6.35%) to Rs.41.85, Ansal Infra up by (5.66%) to Rs.32.65, Orbit Co inclined by (5.61%) to Rs.76.30 followed by Omaxe Ltd. grew by (5.42%) to Rs. 57.35.
BSE Capital Goods index is trading higher by 200.98 points or (2.76%) at 7,476.89. The major gainers are Reliance Industrial Infra up by (21.17%) to Rs. 742.70, Gammon India grew by (4.07%) at Rs. 81.90, L&T up by (2.79%) to Rs. 829.10 and SKF India inclined by (2.07%) to Rs. 163.
Unitech is advancing by (6.23%) to Rs.41.80. The company is planning to sell one expensive land asset to pay off loans and raise cash to fund its business. It is now trying to find buyers by offering deep discounts.
