The markets are witnessing a bit of volatility today and are swinging in between the positive and negative territory. The traders are cautious ahead of the long weekend. The broader markets today outperformed the benchmark index as both the BSE Mid Cap and the Small Cap index are trading with a gain of more than 1.5% each.
On stock specific news L&T is trading up by nearly 3% after the company bagged orders worth Rs.605 crore from water and steel sectors in the last quarter of FY09. The company has secured three orders worth Rs. 416 crore from the water sector and another order worth Rs. 189 crore from the steel sector. The metallurgical, material handling and water operating units of the company’s construction division would be executing these orders.
The buying momentum witnessed among the Realty, Metal, Capital Goods, Power and Banking stocks. However, the FMCG and Oil & Gas stocks are trading down.
At 11.30 AM, the BSE Sensex advanced by 71.22 points at 10,813.56 and NSE Nifty inclined by 12.20 points at 3,355.15. The BSE Mid Cap and Small Cap are trading higher by 57.94 points and 67.45 points at 3,360.53 and 3,773.42 respectively.
Gainers from the BSE Sensex Pack are Tata Motors up by (4.12%) to Rs. 231.45, along with L&T by (3.53%) to Rs. 835.05, Sterlite Industries by (3.14%) at Rs.395.80, Jai Prakash Associate by (2.78%) at Rs. 109, DLF by (2.38%) at Rs. 217.05 and Relince Infra by (2.26%) at Rs.632.10.
Gainers from the NSE Nifty Pack are Unitech up by (6.99%) at Rs. 42.10 along with L&T by (3.75%) at Rs. 837.20, Sterlite Industries by (3.13%) at Rs. 396, Tata Motors by (3.04%) at Rs. 230.35, DLF by (2.34%) at Rs. 216.65 and Reliance Infra by (2.05%) at Rs. 630.85.
BSE Realty index is trading higher by (3.57%) or 69.15 points at 2,005.56. The major gainers are Mahindra Life up by (7.68%) at Rs. 178.15 along with Unitech by (6.10%) at Rs. 41.75, India Bull Real by (4.78%) to Rs. 134.70 followed by Orbit Co by (4.29%) at Rs.75.35.
BSE Metal is trading up by (2.25%) or 147.75 points at 6,705.37. The top gainers in the index are Sesa Goa inclined by (5.82%) to Rs. 112.70 along with Jindal Steel by (4.97%) to Rs. 1,370.90, Jindal Saw by (4.09%) to Rs. 219, Sterlite Industries by (3.17%) to Rs. 395.90, JSW Steel by (3.04%) to Rs. 315, followed by NMDC by (2.77%) at Rs. 176.40.
