After a weak opening, the benchmark indices are continuously trading in negative territory, on account of apprehensions over the world''s economic instability. In addition, upcoming local holidays will keep punters to prune their positions further. On a stock specific note, Sterlite Industries is trading down by nearly 2.5% after an announcement that it will pay USD 1.7 bn in cash and notes to acquire bankrupt US copper miner Asarco. Going ahead, the selling interest has emerged in FMCG, IT and TECk stocks, whereas buying is seen across Auto counter. BSE FMCG and IT indices are leading the laggards list with dip of 1.81% and 1.53% respectively, while the Auto is the gainer with the hike of 0.32%. Overall the market breadth is negative as 994 stocks are trading in red while 646 stocks are in green territory.
At 11.30 AM, the BSE Sensex is down by 143.92 points at 8,181.9 and NSE Nifty down by 38.05 points at 2,582.1. The BSE Mid Cap and BSE Small Cap are trading lower by 17.64 points and 18.89 points at 2,568.66 and 2,892.83 respectively.
Losers from the BSE Sensex Pack are HUL down by (4.76%) to Rs.213.30, along with ITC Ltd by (3.58%) to Rs. 158.9, Jaiprakash associate by (3.16%) at Rs. 67.35, Reliance Infrastructure Ltd by (2.65%) at Rs. 440.3, Sun Pharmaceuticals Ltd by (2.45%) at Rs. 996.5 and Sterlite Industries by (2.30%) at Rs. 244.3.
Losers from the NSE Nifty Pack are HUL down by (4.58%) at Rs. 213.7 along with reliance Capital by (3.75%) at Rs. 275.8, PNB by (3.44%) at Rs. 300.2, ITC Ltd by (3.28%) at Rs. 159.15, BPCL by (3.14%) at Rs. 367.4 and Sun Pharmaceutical by (2.59%) at Rs. 994.5.
