The markets got off to a positive start and open significantly higher with the NSE Nifty surpassed the 3,000 mark on the back of positive global cues. The significant buying witnessed across s the board mainly led by the Metal, Oil & Gas, Capital Goods, Power and Pharma stocks. The BSE Mid Cap and the Small Cap are also trading higher in the early trade with a gain of more than 1% each.
The Asian markets are also trading mixed as Nikkei, Hang Seng and Shanghai Composite index are trading higher by 4.94%, 3.39% and 4.98% respectively while KLSE Composite and the Straights Times index are trading lower by 2.11% and 0.08% respectively. The Asian Markets got a boost in the early trade on the back of the China’s $586 billion stimulus plan over the weekend in order to tackle the effects of a global slowdown on its booming economy.
The BSE Sensex is now trading above the 10,150 mark and the NSE Nifty above the 3,000 mark.
The US stock market on Friday, reversed its momentum and finally managed to end the week in positive after a sharp two days of continued drop despite another round of weak economic and earnings data. The non-farm pay rolls declined by 240,000 in October, worse than expected, lifting the unemployment rate to a 14-year high of 6.5%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) surged by 248.02 points to close at 8,943.81. The NASDAQ Composite (RIXF) index increased by 38.70 points to close at 1,647.40 and the S&P 500 (SPX) advanced by 26.11 points to close at 930.99.
The overall market breadth is positive as 994 stocks are advancing whereas 372 stocks are declining on BSE.
Sterlite Industries reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading with a gain of (8.88%) at Rs.268 while Mahindra & Mahindra reported the top loser down by (2.40%) at Rs.363.30.
At 10.33AM, the BSE Sensex was up by 207.99 points at 10,172.28 and the Nifty was up by 66.55 points to 3,039.55.
The BSE Mid Cap increased by 57.07 points to 3,412.45 and the BSE Small Cap advanced by 44.76 points to 3,944.86.
BSE Oil & Gas index is trading higher by 180.34 points or (3%) to trade at 6,193.91. The top gainers are Aban Offshore increased by (3.70%) to Rs.1,006, ONGC up by (3.55%) to Rs.767.95, Gail India inclined by (1.92%) to Rs.218 followed by RNRL grew by (1.84%) to Rs.52.65.
BSE Metal index surged by 300.91 points or (5.84%) to trade at 5,453.24. The major gainers are Sterlite Industries inclined by (8.59%) to Rs.267.30, Jindal Steel up by (6.45%) to Rs.785.15, Nalco increased by (5.64%) to Rs.175.10 followed by JSW Steel grew by (5.27%) to Rs.300.40.
