Pharma Index Managed To Trade In Green Trade - Nov 11, 2008

The markets retreated today after a sharp rally yesterday on the back of some profit booking emerged in the early trade. The selling pressure is seen among the Metal, Realty, Oil & Gas, Capital Goods, Banking and Power stocks. However, the Pharma index managed to trade in green in the early trade.The BSE Mid Cap and the Small Cap are also trading lower in the early trade with a loss of around 1% each.

The Asian markets are also trading mixed as Nikkei, Hang Seng and Straits Times index are trading lower by 1.06%, 0.59% and 1.40% respectively while the Shnghai Composite index is trading higher by 0.36%.

The BSE Sensex is now trading around the 10,200 mark and the NSE Nifty below the 3,100 mark.

The US stock market on Monday, as concerns about US economy dampen enthusiasm over China stimulus plan and a restructuring of AIG''s government bailout. Barclay’s forecasts a fourth quarter loss by Goldman Sachs. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) dropped by 73.27 points to close at 8,870.54. The NASDAQ Composite (RIXF) index decreased by 30.66 points to close at 1,616.74 and the S&P 500 (SPX) slipped by 11.78 points to close at 919.21.

The overall market breadth is negative as 542 stocks are advancing whereas 825 stocks are declining on BSE.

Reliance Communication reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading with a gain of (3.21%) at Rs.242.95 while Sterlite Industries reported the top loser down by (8.27%) at Rs.256.10.

At 10.33AM, the BSE Sensex was down by 320.06 points at 10,216.10 and the Nifty was down by 80 points to 3,068.25.

The BSE Mid Cap decreased by 37.01 points to 3,438.08 and the BSE Small Cap slipped by 31.70 points to 3,956.33.

BSE Realty index is trading lower by 89.41 points or (3.63%) to trade at 2,371.44. The top losers are India Bull Real decreased by (4.85%) to Rs.146.25, Unitech down by (3.81%) to Rs.54.25, DLF declined by (3.32%) to Rs.288 followed by Omaxe Ltd. fell by (2.76%) to Rs.65.10.

BSE Metal index dropped by 239.65 points or (4.19%) to trade at 5,475.18. The major losers are Sterlite Industries declined by (8.27%) to Rs.256.10, Hindalco Industries down by (6.81%) to Rs.62.25, Tata Steel decreased by (4.69%) to Rs.204.40 followed by Jindal Steel fell by (4.06%) to Rs.813.25.
