Markets Turn Hovering Around Dotted Line - Nov 24, 2008

The benchmark indices have pulled back from the lows of the day but turned volatile. Even the Asian markets are trading mixed, as the citi group share slump worries. The investors have decided to stay on the edge of the fence, hoping for some fresh cues from the policymakers. The index heavyweight like Capital Goods, IT, Power and FMCH are trading in the green whereas Realty, Bankex and Auto trading in red. The market breath is favoring advance, as 975 stocks are trading in green and about 941 stocks in red on the broader BSE.

At 11.42 AM, the BSE Sensex lost 43.76 points at 8871whereas NSE Nifty down by 13.50 points at 2679.95. The BSE Mid Cap and BSE Small Cap are lower by 12 points and 4.00 points at 2904.47 and 3386.75 respectively.

Losers from the BSE Sensex Pack are DLF down by (4.77%) at Rs.188.75 along with Sterlite Industries by (4.09%) at Rs.209.80, ICICI bank by (3.14%) at Rs.325.00, HDFC by (2.88%) at Rs.1359.00 and M&M ltd by (2.62%) at Rs.301.15.

Gainers from the NSE Nifty Pack are Reliance energy up by (5.25%) at Rs.510.90 along with Hero Honda Motors by (3.47%) at Rs.735.00, Tata Motors ltd by (3.35%) at Rs.137.45, TCS by (2.87%) at Rs.521.00 and HCL by (2.85%) at Rs.147.90.

BSE Bankex is losing by 79.49 points at 4,519.41. The major losers are Union bank trading down by (3.19%) at Rs.139.70, Karnataka bank by (3.53) to Rs.75.25, IDBI bank by (2.89%) at Rs.60.55, Oriental bank by (2.88%) at Rs.133.40, ICICI bank by (2.35%) to Rs.327.65, followed by Bank of Baroda by (2.15%) to Rs.261.80.

BSE Capital Goods is trading higher by 45.26 points at 6,601.63. The top gainers in the index are Usha Martin increased by (5.00%) to Rs.21.00, SKF India by (1.78%) to 137.00, Praj Industries up by (1.57%) to Rs.54.95, L&T Ltd by (1.28%) to Rs.770.05 followed by Areva by (1.87%) at Rs.141.45.
