The markets today bounced back after a sharp seven days of losing trend as some buying witnessed among the selective scrips. The Metal, Capital Goods, Power, IT and Oil & Gas stocks are on the buyer’s ride today. The BSE Mid Cap and the Small Cap are however trading flat in the early trade.
The BSE Sensex is now trading above the 8,500 mark and the NSE Nifty above the 2,600 mark.
The Asian markets are also trading mixed today as Hang Seng, Straits Times and Nikkei 225 index are trading higher by (4.50%), (0.88%) and (0.76%) respectively. However the Shanghai Composite and KLSE Composite index are trading lower by (4.28%) and (1.40%) respectively.
The US stock market on Thursday once again plunged sharply after a volatile session and ending at its lowest level in more than 11 years backed by continued weakness in labor markets has increased concern about the economic worry. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) dropped by 444.99 points to close at 7,552.29. The NASDAQ Composite (RIXF) index decreased by 70.30 points to close at 1,316.12 and the S&P 500 (SPX) fell by 54.14 points to close at 752.44.
The overall market breadth is negative as 669 stocks are advancing whereas 841 stocks are declining on BSE.
Hindalco Industries reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading with a gain of (4%) at Rs. 52 while ICICI Bank reported the top loser down by (0.48%) to Rs. 318.80.
At 10.33AM, the BSE Sensex was up by 124.14 points at 8,575.15 and the Nifty was up by 46.85 points to 2,600.
The BSE Mid Cap increased by 4.76 points to 2,900.55 while the BSE Small Cap slipped by 4.49 points to 3,380.85.
BSE Metal index is trading higher by 96.37 points or (2.27%) to trade at 4,346.86. The top gainers are Hindalco Industries increased by (3.90%) to Rs.51.95, SAIL up by (2.81%) to Rs.60.30, Sterlite Industries inclined by (2.54%) to Rs.205.60 followed by Tata Steel grew by (2.34%) to Rs. 161.75.
BSE Capital Goods index is trading higher by 130.48 points or (2.10%) to trade at 6,339.86. The major gainers are BHEL inclined by (3.19%) to Rs. 1,232.30, Siemens up by (4.04%) to Rs.276.55, ABB increased by (2.39%) to Rs.430.10 followed by Praj Industries grew by (2.70%) to Rs.55.25.
