Market Struggling For Direction The Concern Positions - Nov 04, 2008

The benchmark Sensex pared losses and is trading mixed with the concern of US Presidential election. Selling momentum are stronger due to profit-booking and weakness in other Asian bourses. On the sectoral front, traders off-loaded positions in most of the sectors. IT stocks extended fall despite weak rupee. A weaker rupee boosts revenue of IT firms as major chunk of revenue come in terms of dollar.

Banking stock fell on negative anticipation from outcome of meeting of Finance Minister with the chiefs of state-owned banks. The meeting is crucial from the point of view of growing cash squeeze, worry about economic growth and happening in global financial crisis. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was positive. On BSE, out of 2494 shares, 1439 shares advanced while 985 shares declined. Nearly 70 shares are unchanged.

At 1.31PM, the BSE Sensex is trading marginally higher by 4.78 points at 10342.47 and NSE Nifty is up by 15.5 points at 3059.35.

The BSE Mid Cap is trading higher by 35.19 points at 3390.74 and Small cap is trading up by 45.71 points at 3972.81.

Losers from the BSE Sensex Pack are Wipro Ltd down by (7.69%) at Rs.255.00 along with TCS Ltd by (7.31%) at Rs.508.60, Satyam Comp by (6.73%) at Rs.279.90, Sterlite (6.09%) at Rs.277.00, Infosys by (5.04%) at Rs.1309.00, Reliance Infra (3.76%) at Rs.515.00 and ACC (3.70%) at Rs.492.75.

Gainers from the BSE Sensex Pack are Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd up by (8.22%) at Rs.206.00 along with ONGC by (7.92%) at Rs.767.00, Tata Power by (7.32%) at Rs.744.00, BHEL by (3.60%) at Rs.1389.40 and Rel Com by (4.73%) at Rs.243.65.

The BSE IT index is down by 145.52 points at 2728.84. Stocks trading lower are Wipro Ltd down by (7.69%) at Rs.255.00 along with TCS Ltd by (7.31%) at Rs.508.60, Satyam Comp by (6.73%) at Rs.279.90, Infosys by (5.04%) at Rs.1309.00 and HCL Tech by (4.84%) at Rs.166.00.

The BSE Realty is up by 98.56 points at 2240.84. Gainers are Unitech up by (8.37%) at Rs.53.10, along with Indiabulls Realty by (6.18%) by Rs.134.85, Ansal Infra by (5.47%) at Rs.49.20, Penland Ltd by (5.11%) at Rs.24.70 and Orbitco by (.88) at Rs.74.15.
