The markets today open sharply lower with a heavy gap down due to some profit booking emerged after a sharp rally yesterday. All the sectorial indices are trading in red in the opening trade. The most selling pressure is seen in the Banking, Realty, Power, Auto and Capital Goods stocks.
The overall market breadth is negative as 662 stocks are advancing whereas 1057 stocks are declining on BSE.
ACC reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading with a gain of (0.89%) at Rs.604.90 while Tata Motors the top loser down by (4.20%) at Rs.418.10.
At 10.30AM, the BSE Sensex was down by 182.35 points at 14,762.62 and the Nifty was down by 50.55 points to 4,431.75.
The BSE Mid Cap decreased by 23.06 points to 5,796.83 and the BSE Small Cap slipped by 16.78 points to 6,965.99.
BSE Bank index dropped by 133.83 points to trade at 7,330.41. The major losers are ICICI Bank, Kotak Bank, Bank of India and AXIS Bank fell by (2.53%), (2.46%), (2.11%) and (1.96%) to Rs.702.55, Rs.606.50, Rs.287 and Rs.696.95 respectively.
BSE Realty index slipped by 90.16 points to trade at 5,046.84. The top losers are India Bull Real decreased by (2.85%) to Rs.280.95, DLF down by (2.16%) to Rs.501, Unitech declined by (1.87%) to Rs.160.20 followed by HDIL fell by (1.80%) to Rs.310.50.
DLF is trading lower by (1.20%) at Rs.506.20. The company yesterday has received a clearance from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to go ahead with the buyback of its equity shares. The total buy back shares from existing shareholders stood at Rs.1,100crore at a price not exceeding Rs.600 a share. This offer will led the shareholding of the promoters would increase from 88.16% to 89.32%
