The markets today have a huge gap up opening on the back of the news of approval by the 45-nation Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) of US plans to engage India in nuclear trade. Further the news of the taken over of the US mortgage lenders Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac by US government also added to the positive sentiments. All the sectorial indices are trading in green in the opening trade. Both the BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty open with a gap up of more than 4% each. The most buying is seen among the Power, Capital Goods, Banking, and Realty stocks.
The overall market breadth is positive as 1421stocks are advancing whereas 397 stocks are declining on BSE.
Sterlite Industries reported the top loser from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading with a loss of (3.36%) at Rs.592.50 followed by Jai Prakash Associate down by (3.28%) at Rs.592.50.
At 10.30AM, the BSE Sensex was up by 520.65 points at 15,004.48 and the Nifty was up by 149.25 points to 4,501.55.
The BSE Mid Cap increased by 112.77 points to 5,866.49 and the BSE Small Cap advanced by 113.43 points to 7,018.65.
BSE Power index advanced by 143.24 points to trade at 2,770.54. The major losers are NTPC, Reliance Power, Power Grid and Tata Power grew by (6.92%), (5.86%), (5.54%) and (4.27%) to Rs.185.45, Rs.172.45, Rs.98.10 and Rs.1,126.50 respectively.
BSE Capital Goods index surged by 616.48 points to trade at 12,597.08. The top gainers are BHEL increased by (6.11%) to Rs.1,837.50, L&T up by (5.42%) to Rs.2,758, Siemens inclined by (4.08%) to Rs.569.70 followed by ABB grew by (3.21%) to Rs.902.
BHEL is trading higher by (6.80%) at Rs.1,850. The company will invest Rs.1,400 crore to build a manufacturing facility for castings and forgings, key components for power equipment
