Indian Markets drift down further after reopening and continues to lose ground on heavy selling pressured by worries over the US government''s proposed $700 billion bailout plan. Investors are also cautious ahead of future & option expiry and inflation data for the week ended 13th September 2008. Now NSE Nifty is below 4,100 level and BSE Sensex is below 13,500 mark. Most of the indices are trading in red and among those, Metal, Capital Goods, Oil & Gas, Bank and Reality stocks are major sufferers of the negative sentiments. However, FMCG stocks are witnessing some buying. Among the Sensex pack, 26 stocks are trading in red and 4 are in green.
At 1.30PM, the BSE Sensex is trading lower by 256.03 points at 13,436.49 and NSE Nifty is down by 77.30 points at 4,083.90.
The BSE Mid Cap and Small cap are trading lower by 48.20 points and 61.10 points at 5,057.56 and 6,040.37 respectively.
Losers from the BSE Sensex are ICICI Bank Ltd down by (3.79%) at Rs577.40 along with Satyam Computer (3.26%) at Rs323.00, Bharti Airtel (3.04%) at Rs785.80, Wipro Ltd (3.03%) at Rs359.50, Hindalco (2.62%) at Rs106.00, Ranbaxy Lab (2.57%) at Rs302.80 and TCS Ltd by (2.45%) at Rs696.00.
The BSE Metal index is trading lower by 147.89 points at Rs9,994.40. As Sesa Goa Ltd is trading down by (4.57%) at Rs117.90 followed by Jindal Steel by (2.75%) at Rs1,414.00, Welspan Hindalco (2.71%) at Rs105.90, Steel Authority (2.14%) at Rs139.20 and Sterlite In by (1.99%) at Rs477.85.
The BSE Oil & Gas index is trading down by 110.26 points at Rs9,325.59 as Reliance Natural Resources is trading lower by (2.07%) at Rs78.00 along with Gail India (1.84%) at Rs402.90, ONGC Ltd (1.55%) at Rs1,045.50, Reliance by (1.52%) at Rs2,016.50 and BPCL (0.96%) at Rs344.50.
From the telecommunication sector, Bharti Airtel is trading lower by (3.23%) at Rs784.35 along with Tata Communications by (1.94%) at Rs456.00, Idea Cellular down by (1.61%) at Rs79.20 and Reliance Com Ltd by (1.41%) at Rs364.90.
In auto sector Hero Honda Motors is higher by (2.45%) at Rs864.90. However, Tata Motors is trading down by (1.48%) at Rs381.75 followed by Maruti Suzuki lower by (1.34%) at Rs692.70 and M&M Ltd is trading by (1.14%) at Rs554.60.
From cement sector by Ambuja Cements is trading up by (1.84%) at Rs85.85, along with ACC Ltd trading higher by (0.82%) at Rs631.90 while Grasim Indus is down by (1.04%) at Rs1,914.95.
