Domestic markets are trading lower on heavy selling over the counters led by decline in Asian markets. Markets opened on downbeat note on weak global cues on the back of Lehman bankruptcy. Lehman Brothers had filed for Chapter 11 of bankruptcy in US. All the sectorial indices are trading in red and rate sensitive, Reality, Metal, and IT stocks are witnessing huge selling pressure along with Capital Goods, Bank, Oil & Gas and Pharma stocks.
The market breadth is negative as 1942 stocks are trading in red while 335 stocks are in green. The BSE sensex is trading below 13,200 level and NSE Nifty is below 4,000 mark
The Indian Rupee continues its downward journey and lost 48 paise to 46.53 against the US dollar in early trade today on weak Asian markets. It ended at 46.04/05 on Monday. Further the crude oil dropped below $92 a barrel, its biggest two day drop in almost four years due to the ongoing concern about the US financial sector. Crude oil for October delivery lost $4.15 to $91.70 a barrel.
At 11:30AM, BSE Sensex is trading lower by 409.00 points at 13,121.40 and NSE Nifty is trading down by 123.00 at 3,949.60. The BSE Mid Cap and BSE Small Cap are trading lower by 194.00 points and 206.00 points at 5,094.38 and 6,174.46 respectively.
Losers from the NSE Nifty are ICICI Bank Ltd down by (8.17%) at Rs576.25 along with Unitech Ltd (7.46%) at Rs133.30, Satyam Computer (7.14%) at Rs342.20, DLF Ltd (6.71%) at Rs404.10, Ranbaxy Lab (6.49%) at Rs392.85, Wipro Ltd (5.30%) at Rs382.50, Tata Steel Ltd by (4.71%) at Rs476.90 and Suzlon Energy (4.58%) at Rs 202.25.
The BSE Metal index is trading lower by 390.64 points at Rs10,000.20 as Welspan Guajrat Sr is trading down by (8.01%) at Rs256.00 along with Hindustan zinc (7.35%) at Rs484.00, Jindal Steel (7.31%) at Rs1,932.45, Sesa Goa Ltd by (6.22%) at Rs121.30 and Guajrat NRE C (5.25%) at Rs72.20.
The BSE Capital Goods index is trading down by 302.69 points at Rs11,064.23 as Walchand Industries is trading lower by (7.68%) at Rs224.75 followed by Reliance Industrial Infra (7.13%) at Rs720.05, Jyoti Struct (6.85%) at Rs107.50, Praj Indus by (5.41%) at Rs141.50 and Gammon Indi (4.60%) at Rs184.40
