Markets Are Trading Lower After A Negative Opening - 1 Sep 08

Markets are trading lower after a negative opening tracking weak global cues. Selling is visible mainly in Capital goods, Bank, Metal, Reality, and Power stocks. However, IT stocks are able to gain market favour. The market breadth is negative as 1191 stocks are trading in red while 945 stocks are in green.

At 11.32AM, BSE Sensex is trading lower by 219.95 points at 14,344.58 and NSE Nifty is trading down 62.39 at 4,297.60. The BSE Mid Cap is trading lower by 24.47 points at 5,717.87 and BSE Small Cap is down by 17.37 points at 6,874.27.

Lossers from the NSE Nifty are Maruti Suzuki down by (3.82%) at Rs624.80 along with Dr Tata Steel (3.60%) at Rs579.10, Ranbaxy Lab (3.29%) at Rs501.75, Tata Comm Ltd (3.08%) at Rs401.80, Nalco (2.95%) at Rs375.60, ICICI Bank Ltd (2.94%) at Rs652.15 and BHEL by (2.91%) at Rs1,658.10.

The Capital Goods index is trading down by 164.67 points at Rs11,721.95 as BHEL is trading lower by (2.93%) at Rs1,656.50 along with SKF India (2.07%) at Rs229.00, Elecon Eng C by (1.96%) at Rs114.80, L&T Ltd (1.92%) at R2,540.00 and Siemens Ltd (1.65%) at Rs539.00.

The Bank index is trading down by 153.17 points at Rs6,856.52. Scrips trading lower are ICICI Bank Ltd (2.93%) at Rs651.80 followed by Indus Ind Bank by (2.65%) at Rs58.75, Axis Bank (2.61%) at Rs704.40, OBC (2.54%) at Rs161.45 and SBI by (2.54%) at Rs1,368.00.

The Metal index is trading lower by 141.53 points at Rs12,206.49 as Tata Steel is trading down by (3.63%) at Rs578.55 along with Jai NALCO (3.02%) at Rs376.00, Steel Authority (2.69%) at Rs151.85, Gujarat NRE C (1.63%) at Rs102.90 and Sterlite Indus by (1.47%) at Rs618.00.
