The market is trading on the back foot due to selective profit booking across the sectoral indices. The investors are taking calculative steps to book heir positions. Though the market opened on a firm note but was not able to sustain as the higher level as the profit booking took a lead. From the sectoral front, the metal stocks are attracting the investor’s confidence as most buying was witnessed from this basket. The market breadth is strong as 1272 stocks are trading in green while 1160 stocks are trading in red.
At 1.28 PM, the BSE Sensex is trading lower by 11.77 points at 14,030.55 and NSE Nifty is trading down by 17.9 points at 4,227.35. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap are trading with marginal gains of 8.25 points and 11.42 points at 5,237.03 and 6,227.41 respectively.
Losers from the BSE pack are India Cements trading lower by 4.54% at Rs123.95 followed by Bombay Dyeing by 4.54% at Rs461.90, Suzlon Energy by 4.41% at Rs203.75, Satyam Comp by 3.92% at Rs355.60, Maruti Suzuki by 3.55% at Rs715.30, Siemens by 3.51% at Rs488.75, Mphasis by 3.29% at Rs210.
The Metal index is trading higher by 157.66 points at 10,191.25. Pushing it are Sesa Gos trading up by 8.48% at Rs118.35 along with Gujarat NRE Coke by 7.69% at Rs70.75, NMDC by 5% at Rs228.90 and Tata Steel by 3.47% at Rs496.25, Jindal Steel by 2.75% at Rs1517.
BSE Capital goods index dropped by 196.86 points to 11,543.21. The main losers are Siemens (2.78%), Punj Lloyd (1.91%), L&T (1.64%) and Gammon India (1.19%).
BSE FMCG index advanced by 31.66 points to 2,206.90. The main gainers are United Brewaries (3.73%), ITC (2.59%), Godrej Consumer (2.15%) and Dabur India (1.98%)
