Market Is Trading With Marginal Gains

The market is trading with marginal gains and the investors are taking calculative steps in booking their positions. However, the market gathers the momentum after a weak start on the back of selective buying across the counters. The market breadth is strong as 1590 stocks are trading in green while 654 stocks are trading in red.

At 11.30AM, BSE Sensex is trading higher by 16 points at 15,807 and NSE Nifty is trading up by 15.25 points at 4,762.30. The BSE Mid Cap and Small Cap are trading higher by 51.55 points and 104.85 points at 6,523.06 and 8,045.96 respectively.

The Capital Goods index is trading higher by 81.80 points at 12,944.27. Pushing it are Thermax trading up by (3.38%) at Rs486 along with Areva by (3.05%) at Rs1465, BEML by (2.44%) at Rs1000.05, Punj Lloyd by (2.47%) at Rs317, Siemens by (2.06%) at Rs603.05, Praj Industries by (1.99%) at Rs143.80, Alstom projects by (1.70%) at Rs614.80, Jyoti Structures by (1.41%) at Rs165.

From the auto index, Escorts Ltd trading higher by (2.69%) at Rs91.65 followed by M&M by (2.14%) at Rs620.90, Bharat Forge by (1.08%) at Rs276, TVS motor by (1.05%) at Rs33.80, Tata Motors by (0.98%) at Rs637.65 and Bosch by (0.42%) at Rs3749.95.

Gainers from the BSE are MMTC trading higher by (10%) at Rs22,731 in line with Bhushan Steel by (5.92%) at Rs738, Rajesh Exports by (5.15%) at Rs92.85, Reliance industrial infrastructure by (5%) at Rs890.60, Jai Corp by (4.99%) at Rs497.30, Rashtriya Chemicals by (4.97%) at Rs54.90, Divi’s Lab by (4.41%) at Rs1376.10 and Reliance Energy by (4.35%) at Rs1228.05.

BPCL is trading higher by (4.04%) at Rs412. The company is planning to take non-petroleum revenue to a new level by setting up highway fuel station integrated with cinema halls and restaurants. It is keen to expand its non-petroleum business from the current turnover of Rs550 crore to touch Rs1,500 crore by 2011.

TCS is trading up by (2.17%) at Rs895 as the company has signed a new multi-year contract with car manufacturer Chrysler to provide a portfolio of IT services. The company will deliver IT application and maintenance support services to Chrysler. It also involves several functional areas such as sales & marketing, shared services, product development and after sales.

Larsen and tourbo is trading higher by (0.49%) at Rs2650 as the company has won four orders worth Rs16.87 bn for water supply project, steel plants and coal handling projects. Th oreder won from various divisions are like its construction division has won an EPC contract worth Rs6.35bn for the Rajasthan water supply project. Its ECC division has won Rs5.55bn order in consortium with Outotec Gmbh for a Sinter plant From Bhushan Steel Ltd. It has also bagged an order from SAIL valued at Rs2.72bn to build a new cold roll mill and also won contract from Damodar valley worth of Rs3.30bn for coal handling plant.
