MUMBAI: The market opened on a quiet note on Tuesday, tracking overseas cues. Front line stocks slipped into red, but bounced off lows led by metals and banks.
At 10:05 AM, the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty was at 4950.25, higher by 18 points or 0.37 per cent from the previous close.
The Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex was up 55 points or 0.33 per cent at 16,901.26.
Biggest Sensex gainers were Ranbaxy Laboratories (up 0.5%), Reliance Communications (0.44%), Bajaj Auto (0.42%), ICICI Bank (0.42%) and NTPC (0.36%).
Infosys Technologies (down 0.52%), Ambuja Cements (0.47%), Wipro (0.40%), Reliance Energy (0.35%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.29%) and Cipla (0.21%) were the losers.
Market breadth on BSE showed 630 advances against 467 declines, while on NSE, 518 gained 410 fell.
