Market Recovers From Day Low - June 16, 2009

After a weak opening, the major Indian bourses are trading with negative sentiments around the corner mainly due to weak global cues. Going ahead, lack of news in the domestic arena turned investors a bit cautious to take a fresh position. On a stock specific news, Dr. Reddy’s is trading higher by 3% after an announcement that company has entered into a partnership with Glaxo Smith Kline to develop and market selected products across emerging markets outside India.

During the last hours'' trading session, selling pressure has emerged across Auto, Metal and Oil & Gas stocks whereas moderate buying interest seen across Power, Healthcare and Capital Goods counters.

Among the BSE sectoral indices, Auto, Metal and Oil & Gas stocks declined by 1.29%, 1.26% and 1.07% respectively, while the Power, Healthcare and Capital Goods indices surged by 1%, 0.74% and 0.63% respectively.

Overall the market breadth is negative as 1,183 stocks are trading in red while 939 stocks are in green.

The BSE Sensex is trading with marginal gains of 36.8 points at 14,912.33 while NSE Nifty up by 7.55 points at 4,491.55.

Besides, the BSE Mid Cap and Small Cap are trading higher by 55.95 points and 35.03 points at 5,169.15 and 5,920.8 respectively.

Gainers from the BSE Sensex Pack are Reliance Infrastructure up by (5.93%) to Rs. 1,266, along with SBI by (4.14%) to Rs. 1,710, Tata Power by (2.87%) at Rs. 1,171.85, Reliance Communication by (2.18%) at Rs. 326.25, ITC Limited by (1.95%) at Rs. 201.15 and Jai prakash associate by (1.74%) at Rs. 213.95.

Gainers from the NSE Nifty Pack are Reliance Infrastructure surged by (6.39%) at Rs. 1,273.4 along with SBI by (4.27%) at Rs. 1,712.05, PNB by (2.88%) at Rs. 629, Reliance Capital by (2.64%) at Rs. 962.25, Reliance Communication by (2.34%) at Rs. 326.5 and Tata Power by (2.29%) at Rs. 1,166.65.

BSE Auto is trading down by (1.29%) or 61.86 points at 4,732.85. The major losers are Hero Honda Motors declined by (1.97%) at Rs. 1,403.9 along with Exide industries by (1.49%) at Rs. 69.45, Maruti Suzuki by (1.36%) at Rs. 1,049.9, Bosch Limited by (1.09%) at Rs. 3,330 followed by Bajaj auto by (1%) at Rs. 987.95.

BSE Power is trading higher by (1%) or 29.42 points at 2,964.7. The top gainers in the index are Reliance Infrastructure surged by (5.93%) to Rs.1,266 along with Lanco Infra by (3.61%) to Rs. 374.7, Neyveli Lig by (2.40%) to Rs. 125.80, followed by GVK Power by (2.31%) to Rs. 39.85.

Market Tanks Due To Weak Global Cues - June 15, 2009

After a weak opening, the equities on the major Indian bourses are still trading in red territory following the weak Asian markets. Going ahead, lack of prominent triggers from the home front to offset negative cues from global markets encourages the domestic investors to trade on a cautious path after a sharp rally since early March.

On a stock specific move, Suzlon is trading higher by nearly 3.5% after world’s fifth-largest wind turbine maker informed that it is exploring the option of selling a large portion of its stake in Belgian company Hansen Transmissions, to raise money for retiring part of its Rs 12,000-crore debt.

During the last hours'' trading session, selling pressure has emerged across Oil & Gas, Metal and Auto stocks whereas moderate buying interest seen across Banking, PSU and FMCG counters.

Among the BSE sectoral indices, Oil & Gas, Metal and Auto stocks declined by 1.03%, 0.72% and 0.54% respectively, while the Bankex, PSU and FMCG indices surged by 1.41%, 1.06% and 0.49% respectively.

Overall the market breadth is negative as 1,267 stocks are trading in red while 860 stocks are in green.

The BSE Sensex declined by 76.15 points at 15,161.78 while NSE Nifty down by 6.94 points at 4,576.45. Besides, the BSE Mid Cap and Small Cap are trading down by 15.41 points and 25.81 points at 5,219.61 and 5,988.85 respectively.

Losers from the BSE Sensex Pack are Reliance Industries down by (4.53%) to Rs. 2,249.95, along with Sterlite Industry by (4.32%) to Rs. 687.1, Tata Motors by (4.16%) at Rs. 341.8, Tata Power by (3.79%) at Rs. 1,129, Hindalco Industries by (2.24%) at Rs. 98.2 and Mahindra & Mahindra Limited by (2.21%) at Rs. 765.95.

Losers from the NSE Nifty Pack are Reliance Industries declined by (5.51%) at Rs. 2,232 along with RPL by (5.44%) at Rs. 139.1, Sterlite Industries by (4.81%) at Rs. 685.35, Tata Power by (4.09%) at Rs. 1,129.65, Tata Motors Limited by (3.47%) at Rs. 344.85 and Hindalco Industries by (2.88%) at Rs. 97.9.

BSE Oil & Gas is trading down by (1.03%) or 108.41 points at 10,401.31. The major losers are Reliance Industries declined by (4.53%) at Rs. 2,249.95 along with RPL by (3.84%) at Rs. 141.30, Gail India Limited by (1.48%) at Rs. 282.75, Essar Oil Limited by (1.40%) at Rs. 166.10 followed by Indian Oil Corp by (0.73%) at Rs. 552.05.

BSE Metal is trading lower by (0.72%) or 87.91 points at 12,132.54. The top losers in the index are Sterlite Industries declined by (4.32%) to Rs.687.1 along with Welsp Guj SR by (3.97%) to Rs. 220.10, Gujarat NRE by (2.63%) to Rs. 49.90, followed by Hindalco Industries by (2.59%) to Rs. 97.85.

Market On Positive Mode: IIP Data Eyed - June 12, 2009

After a positive start, the major domestic bourses are marching towards the northward on the back of strong sentiments across the other Asian markets. Besides, traders will be keen awaiting IIP data for further cues on domestic growth. On a stock specific news, Sesa Goa jumped by over 10% after country''s largest private iron ore exporter, has bought Goa-based V S Dempo Mining Corporation for Rs 1750 crore.

During the last hours'' trading session, buying interest has emerged across Metal, Power and Capital Goods (CG) stocks whereas Auto sector seen some profit bookings.

Among the BSE sectoral indices, Metal, Power and CG stocks gained by 3.46%, 1.75% and 1.37% respectively, while BSE auto declined by 0.58%.

Overall the market breadth is positive as 1149 stocks are trading in green while 1077 stocks are in red.

The BSE Sensex is up by 135.37 points at 15,546 while NSE Nifty surged by 39.4 points at 4,677.10. Besides, the BSE Mid Cap and Small Cap are trading higher by 56.76 points and 48.30 points at 5,404.34 and 6,198.74 respectively.

Gainers from the BSE Pack are Reliance Infra up by (4.52%) at Rs. 1,246.4 along with Hindalco Industries by (4.09%) at Rs. 105.65, Sterlite Industries by (3.95%) at Rs. 730, Tata Steel by (3.39%) at Rs. 467.6, ICICI Bank by (2.91%) at Rs. 772.1 and Jai Prakash associates by (2.89%) at Rs. 221.1.

Gainers from the NSE Sensex Pack are Sterlite Industries surged by (4.42%) to Rs. 734, along with Reliance Infra by (4.28%) to Rs. 1,243.8, Cipla Limited by (4.06%) at Rs. 249.8, Hindalco Industries by (3.94%) at Rs. 105.4, Tata Steel by (3.39%) at Rs. 467.85 and Tata Communication by (3.34%) at Rs. 555.6.

BSE Metal is trading higher by (3.46%) or 415.21 points at 12,403.91. The major gainers are Sesa Goa up by (9.97%) at Rs. 211.25 along with Hindustan Zinc by (5.68%) at Rs. 651.7, JSW SL by (5.60%) at Rs. 670.4, Welsp Guj SR by (5.36%) at Rs.234 followed by Jindal Steel by (4.63%) at Rs. 2,504.

BSE Power is trading higher by (1.75%) or 53.06 points at 3,085.96. The top gainers in the index are Reliance Infra surged by (4.52%) to Rs. 1,246.4 along with Torrent Power by (3.34%) to Rs. 173.5, RPower by (3.32%) to Rs. 199.3 followed by ABB Limited by (2.92%) at Rs. 777.05.

Market Behind Suitable Near Strong Worldwide Cues - June 04, 2009

The major Indian bourses cool off its northward march following the weak global cues and profit booking pressure after the recent series of gains. Besides lack of news in the domestic arena and concern about the U.S. economic data also weigh on sentiments. On a stock specific move, Opto Circuit is trading higher by over 2% after an announcement that company has planned to raise upto Rs. 400 crore by way of qualified institutional placement of shares.

During the last hours'' trading session, selling pressure has emerged across Metal, Oil & Gas and Realty stocks, whereas FMCG and Health Care (HC) counters are trading in green territory.

Among the BSE sectoral indices,Metal and Oil & Gas stocks dipped by 2.45% and 1.86% respectively whereas FMCG and Health Care stocks grew by 2.26% and 1.16% respectively.

Overall the market breadth is positive as 1507 stocks are trading in green while 887 stocks are in red.

The BSE Sensex is down by 194.43 points at 14,676.47 while NSE Nifty down by 54.34 points at 4,476.35. Besides, the BSE Mid Cap and Small Cap are trading higher by 20.23 points and 34.5 points at 5,345.78 and 6,419.43 respectively.

Losers from the BSE Sensex Pack are Sterlite Industries dipped by (6.74%) to Rs. 655.5, along with Hindalco Industries by (4.13%) to Rs. 89.3, Tata Steel by (3.98%) at Rs. 468.5, ONGC by (3%) at Rs. 1,133.9, ICICI Bank by (2.82%) at Rs. 699.4 and Reliance Industries by (2.39%) at Rs.2,191.25.

Losers from the NSE Nifty Pack are Sterlite Industries declined by (6.32%) at Rs. 657.95 along with Hindalco Industries by (4.45%) at Rs. 89.15, Cairn India by (4.28%) at Rs.246.2, Tata Steel by (4.09%) at Rs. 468.15, National Aluminium by (3.97%) at Rs. 341.5 and Ambuja Cements by (2.90%) at Rs. 102.1.

BSE Metal is trading lower by (2.45%) or 293.03 points at 11,658.17. The top losers in the index are Sterlite Industries declined by (6.74%) to Rs.655.5 along with Hindalco Industries by (4.13%) to Rs. 89.3, Tata Steel by (3.98%) to Rs. 468.5, National aluuminium company by (3.95%) to Rs. 342.7, SAIL by (1.69%) to Rs. 174.55, followed by Sesa Goa by (1.59%) at Rs. 163.85.

BSE Oil & Gas is trading lower by (1.86%) or 192.78 points at 10,372.11. The major losers are Cairn India dipped by (3.91%) at Rs. 247 along with ONGC by (3%) at Rs. 1,133.9, RIL by (2.39%) at Rs. 2,191.25 followed by RPL by (1.76%) at Rs. 139.35.
