The markets are witnessing a little bit of volatility today and are now trading near the unchanged mark. However, the markets managed to recover from the day’s low tracking firm cues from the European markets. The broader markets indices today outperformed the benchmark indices. The significant buying witnessed among the Realty, Consumer Durables, Auto and Pharma stocks. However, Capital Goods and Power stocks are trading lower.
The BSE Sensex is now trading above the 14,300 mark and the NSE Nifty near the 4250 mark.
The overall market breadth is positive as 1425 stocks are advancing while 1044 stocks are declining in BSE.
Reliance Industries reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading up by (3.48%) at Rs. 1,940.20 while Sterlite Industries reported the top loser trading down by (7.42%) at Rs. 582.
The BSE Sensex is trading up by 83.19 points at 14,336.43 and the NSE Nifty is trading higher by 15.90 points at 4,249.40.
The BSE Mid Cap increased by 45.01 points to 5,023.65 and the BSE Small Cap grew by 47.14 points to 5,570.94.
The Oil and Gas index is trading with gains of 192.95 points or 2.15% at 9,175.36. Gainers from this pack are Aban Offshore trading up by 5.91% at Rs. 872.10 along with Gail India by 4.09% at Rs. 339.90, Reliance Industries by 3.60% at Rs. 1942.55, Reliance Petroleum by 3.20% at Rs. 121, Reliance Natural Resources by 2.96% at Rs. 81.70 and Essar Oil by 0.91% at Rs. 133.75.
The Consumer Durables index is trading higher by 46.92 points or 1.66% at 2,872.31. Leading from the gainers pack are Blue Star trading up by 2.30% at Rs. 333 followed by Titan Inds by 1.63% at Rs. 1195.15, Gitanjali GE by 1.53% at Rs. 99.25 and Rajesh Exports by 1.33% at Rs. 38.15.
The most active shares on NSE are Unitech trading at Rs. 75.20 with a total traded quantity of 47618533 shares followed by Suzlon Energy trading at Rs. 93.90 with a total traded quantity of 43286251 shares.
Bajaj Auto Limited is trading up by 6.02% at Rs. 1159.85. The company has posted a net profit of Rs 2934.90 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2009 as compared to Rs 1751.10 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2008.
Total Income has increased from Rs 23334.50 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2008 to Rs 23616.10 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2009.
