Markets On Top Of Sensex Slips A Go Up And Down - July 10, 2009

Market after starting off with a positive bias due to better than expected quarterly result of Infosys, the key bench market indices have erased early gains and have slipped sharply from day''s high. Most of the investors are trading on a cautious note and waiting for the announcement of economic data, which would help them to take any fresh positions. On a stock specific news, Visa steel is trading higher by over 9% after an announcement that company is planning to invest Rs 1,000 crore for adding 275 MW capacity to its 50 MW power plant in Orissa over the next three years.

During the last hours'' trading session, buying interest has emerged across IT, Realty and TECk stocks while selling pressure has seen across Oil & Gas, Consumer Duarble (CD) and PSU counters.

Among the BSE sectoral indices IT, Realty and TECk stocks surged by 2.78%, 2.18% and 1.33% respectively, while the Oil & Gas, CD and PSU indices dipped by 0.46%, 0.27% and 0.12% respectively.

Out of the total 1,958 stocks traded at BSE, 1,010 Advanced, 877 declined while 71 remained unchanged.

The BSE Sensex down by 13.65 points at 13,743.5 while NSE Nifty declined by 3.09 points at 4,077.85.

Besides, the BSE Mid Cap and Small Cap are trading higher by 30.28 points and 34.04 points at 4,841.08 and 5,363.77 respectively.

Losers from the BSE Sensex Pack are Jaiprakash Associate down by (2.41%) to Rs. 192.60, along with HDFC Bank by (1.84%) to Rs. 1,374, HDFC by (1.80%) to Rs. 2,265.15, Tata Power by (1.77%) at Rs. 1,080.10, Mahindra and Mahindra Limited by (1.67%) at Rs. 710, and Hero Honda by (1.59%) at Rs.1,454.

Losers from the NSE Nifty Pack are BPCL decreased by (2.66%) at Rs. 460, along with Sun Pharmaceutical industries by (2.03%) at Rs. 1,149.9, Tata Power by (2.03%) at Rs. 1,076.8, HDFC by (1.99%) at Rs. 2,261, Gail India by (1.93%) at Rs. 318.35 and Ranbaxy Lab by (1.93%) at Rs. 249.2.

BSE Oil & Gas is trading lower by (0.46%) or 40.98 points at 8,781.95. The top losers are ONCG declined by (1.70%) at Rs. 982 along with Indian oil by (0.99%) at Rs. 560, Reliance Petroleum by (0.98%) to Rs. 115.85, RIL by (0.62%) at Rs. 1,840.80 followed by Gail India by (0.60%) at Rs. 322.45.

BSE IT is trading higher by (2.78%) or 87.02 points at 3,215.24. The top gainers in the index are HCL Tech surged by (5.94%) to Rs. 186.50 along with Wipro Limited by (3.99%) to Rs. 387, Rolta India by (3.64%) to 114, Tech Mahindra by (3.18%) to Rs. 717.40 followed by Moser Baer by (2.77%) to Rs. 72.30.
