The markets lost further grounds and are now trading near the day’s low as selling pressure continued across the board. The investors turned cautious and hesitant to take any fresh positions ahead of the Union Budget. Further the European markets also turned negative. The significant selling witnessed among the Realty, Banking, Power and Metal stocks.
The broader market indices underperformed the benchmark index in the afternoon trade and are trading significantly lower as the BSE Mid Cap index is now trading with a loss of more than 2% and the BSE Small Cap index with a loss of more than 1.5%.
The BSE Sensex is now trading around the 14,600 mark while the NSE Nifty below the 4,350 mark.
The overall market breadth is negative as 773 stocks are advancing while 1757 stocks are declining in BSE.
Sun Pharmaceuticals reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading up by (1.34%) at Rs. 1,115.10 while DLF reported the top loser trading down by (6.30%) at Rs. 316.70.
The BSE Sensex is trading down by 191.48 points at 14,594.26 and the NSE Nifty is trading lower by 79.05 points or (1.80%) at 4,311.90.
The BSE Mid Cap decreased by 105.67 points or (2.02%) to 5,124.42 and the BSE Small Cap fell by 93.86 points or (1.59%) to 5,794.
The Realty index is trading with deep cut of 218.62 points or 6.31% at 3,245.45. Losers from this pack are HDIL trading lower by 9.34% at Rs240.25 along with DLF by 5.83% at Rs318.30, Unitech by 5.74% at Rs80.40, Anant Raj by 4.95% at Rs98.80, Ansal Infra by 4.68% at Rs54.95, Orbitco by 4.29% at Rs162.95, Parsvnath by 4.21% at Rs84.25, Omaxe by 3.55% at Rs100.45, Phoenix Mill by 3.35% at Rs102.55 and Akruti City by 2.47% at Rs510.15.
The bankex index is trading lower by 175.75 points or 2.09% at 8,242.11. Scrips from the losers pack are Kotak bank trading lower by 5.38% at Rs635 followed by IDBI bank by 5.26% at Rs110.70, ICICI Bnak by 3.81% at Rs720.20, Indus Ind bank by 3.40% at Rs87.95, Oriental bank of commerce by 3.26% at Rs179.50, Axis bank by 3.15% at Rs839.75, Karnataka bank by 2.34% at Rs139.95, Union bank by 1.36% at Rs243 and Yes bank by 1.22% at Rs149.50.
