The markets now shed most of their early gains and now trading flat as selling pressure emerged among the selective scrips. Further the negative opening of the European markets also turned down the sentiments. The significant selling is seen among the Oil & Gas and Realty stocks. However buying interest continued among the Capital Goods, IT, Pharma, FMCG and Metal stocks.
The BSE Sensex is now trading above the 14300 mark while the NSE Nifty below the 4250 mark.
The overall market breadth is negative as 969 stocks are advancing while 1577 stocks are declining in BSE.
Tata Motors reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading up by (3.12%) at Rs. 338.85 while NTPC reported the top loser trading down by (4%) at Rs. 194.45.
The BSE Sensex is trading up by 45.43 points at 14,310.96 and the NSE Nifty is trading lower by 7.15 points or (1.94%) at 4,244.25.
The BSE Mid Cap increased by 11.77 points or (0.24%) to 4,888.63 while the BSE Small Cap fell by 20.69 points or (0.37%) to 5,551.75.
The Capital Goods index is trading with gains of 267.23 points or 2.28% at 11,989.87. Gainers from this pack are Suzlon Energy trading up by 7.91% at Rs108.40 along with SKF India by 6.38% at Rs225.25, Kalpataru Power by 5.51% at Rs717.75, Alstom Projects by 3.40% at Rs439.60, Punj Lloyd by 2.61% at Rs188.55, Usha Martin by 2.69% at Rs53.45 and Thermax by 2.20% at Rs396.50.
The IT index is trading higher by 66.91 points or 2.09% at 3,269.37. Leading from the gainers pack are Finance Technologies trading higher by 3.28% at Rs1,286.90 followed by Mphasis by 3.28% at Rs381, Oracle Finance by 3.04% at Rs1220, Infosys by 2.59% at Rs1766.10, Patni Computers by 1.66% at Rs245,TCS by 1.57% at Rs385.70 and NIIT Limited by 0.28% at Rs54.50.
The most active shares on NSE are Unitech trading at Rs 76.25 with a total traded quantity of 57346983 shares followed by Suzlon Energy trading at Rs.107.80 with a total traded quantity of 56530523 shares.
Tata Consultancy Services is trading up by 1.38% at Rs385. The company announced the opening of its third global delivery center in Queretaro.
