Market Trading Firm: Sensex Hits 10-Month High - June 10, 2009

After a gap up opening, the domestic markets are marching towards the northward on the back of strong rally across other Asian markets. Further, bulls are driving the major Indian bourses to its highest in 10 months, with an expectation that the government will increase public spending in the budget next month to boost economic growth.

On a stock specific news, Rutal Electrification Corporation Ltd is trading higher by nearly 2.5% after an announcement that company is planning to sell 20% equity stake to raise around Rs 3000 crore for funding of power projects.

During the last hours'' trading session, buying interest has emerged across all the sectoral indices.

Among the BSE sectoral indices, Metal, Consumer Durable (CD) and Capital Goods (CG) stocks gained by 3.80%, 3.51% and 3.46% respectively Overall market breadth is positive.

Out of the total 2,482 stocks traded at BSE, 1,670 advanced, 759 declined while 53 remained unchanged.

The BSE Sensex is up by 373.27 points at 15,500.27 while NSE Nifty surged by 112.1 points at 4,663.05. Besides, the BSE Mid Cap and Small Cap are trading higher by 107.39 points and 113.63 points at 5,383.11 and 6,299.25 respectively.

Gainers from the BSE Sensex Pack are Tata Power Company Ltd surged by (6.69%) to Rs. 1,216.55, along with HDFC Bank by (5.76%) to Rs. 1,497, Reliance Infrastructure by (5.36%) at Rs. 1,210.9, L&T by (4.64%) at Rs. 1,646.9, Sterlite Industries by (4.38%) at Rs. 682.5 and ONGC by (3.88%) at Rs. 1,175.3.

Gainers from the NSE Nifty Pack are Tata Power Company up by (6.73%) at Rs. 1,220.05 along with Reliance Infrastructure by (5.80%) at Rs. 1,215.1, ABB Ltd by (5.45%) at Rs. 775.25, HDFC bank by (5.42%) at Rs. 1,497.25, SAIL by (5.09%) at Rs. 174.45 and L&T by (4.84%) at Rs. 1,649.

BSE Metal is trading higher by (3.80%) or 433.06 points at 11,401.40. The top gainers in the index are JSW Sl surged by (6.89%) to Rs. 593.15 along with Sesa Goa by (5.48%) to Rs. 184.80, SAIL by (4.68%) to Rs. 173.50 followed by Sterlite Industries by (4.38%) at Rs. 682.50.

BSE CD is trading higher by (3.51%) or 105.94 points at 3,124.36. The major gainers are Videocon Industries up by (9.99%) at Rs. 196.60 along with Gitanjali GE by (2.23%) at Rs. 135, Titan Industries by (1.58%) at Rs. 1,232.50 followed by Rajesh Exports by (1.13%) at Rs. 53.70.
