Market Rebounds: Trading With Smart Gains - June 09, 2009

After a weak opening, the major Indian bourses have rallied sharply into the green territory this morning despite weak cues across developed markets. However, investors are trading on a cautious note after a rally of nearly 83% of domestic market since March’09. On a stock specific news, Areva T&D India is trading higher by nearly 2% after it bagged four contracts worth Rs 350 crore from Power Grid Corporation of India for developing four substations in the country.

During the last hours'' trading session, buying interest is seen across IT, Banking and TECk stocks whereas selling pressure has emerged across Auto, Realty and PSU counters.

Among the BSE sectoral indices, IT, Bankex and TECk stocks surged by 3.08%, 1.54% and 1.44% respectively, while the BSE Auto, Realty and PSU declined by 1.69%, 1.62% and 1.20% respectively.

Overall market breadth is negative. Out of the total 2,344 stocks traded at BSE, 599 advanced, 1,716 declined while 29 remained unchanged.

The BSE Sensex is up by 249.21 points at 14,915.13 while NSE Nifty surged by 53.9 points at 4,483.8. Besides, the BSE Mid Cap is trading higher by mere 6.17 points at 5,121.03 whereas Small Cap is trading down by 71.35 points at 6,012.53 respectively.

Gainers from the BSE Sensex Pack are Ranbaxy Lab surged by (5.99%) to Rs. 282.15, along with Wipro Limited by (4.20%) to Rs. 423.05, TCS Limited by (3.10%) at Rs. 761, Reliance Communication by (2.75%) at Rs. 317.95, Infosys Technologies by (2.64%) at Rs. 1,778.9 and SBI by (2.59%) at Rs. 1,739.

Gainers from the NSE Nifty Pack are Ranbaxy Lab up by (6.17%) at Rs. 283.1 along with HCL Tech Limited by (5.88%) at Rs. 182.65, Wipro Limited by (4.04%) at Rs. 422.1, National Aluminium Company by (3.70%) at Rs. 339.3, Reliance Communication by (3.30%) at Rs. 319.2 and Tata Steel by (3.21%) at Rs. 429.8.

BSE IT is trading higher by (3.08%) or 98.64 points at 3,302.37. The top gainers in the index are Tech Mahindra surged by (12.61%) to Rs. 668 along with Patni computers by (8.05%) to Rs. 228.15, Oracle Finance by (6.94%) to Rs. 1,257, HCL Tech by (4.82%) to Rs. 180.65, followed by Aptech Limited by (4.63%) at Rs. 182.

BSE Bankex is trading higher by (1.54%) or 120.91 points at 7,962.67. The major gainers are IDBI bank surged by (7.12%) at Rs. 96.25 along with Bank of Baroda by (3.11%) at Rs. 419, SBI by (2.59%) at Rs. 1,739 followed by PNB by (2.10%) at Rs. 618.80.
