Market Compact Outstanding Toward Global Cues - June 26, 2009

Market after a firm start on account of strong global cues, the major Indian bourses have drifted down sharply from its high with group of large cap stocks encountering sharp resistance at higher level. However due to support from firm Asian markets the key benchmark indices Nifty and Sensex managed to hold on in the positive territory.

On stock specific move, Sun Pharmaceuticals tumbled by nearly 13% today, after US FDA seized 33 drugs from Michigan facility of Caraco, a subsidiary of Sun Pharma.

During the last hours'' trading session, buying interest has emerged across Capital Goods (CG), Realty and Banking stocks whereas moderate selling interest seen across Healthcare (HC) counter.

Among the BSE sectoral indices, CG, Realty and Banking stocks surged by 2.41%, 2.21% and 1.75% respectively.

Overall the market breadth is positive as 1,323 stocks are trading in green while 780 stocks are in red.

The BSE Sensex surged by 129.19 points at 14,474.82 while NSE Nifty is up by 45 points at 4,286.85. Besides, the BSE Mid Cap and Small Cap are trading higher by 71.66 points and 70.63 points at 5,121.56 and 5,763.65 respectively.

Gainers from the BSE Sensex Pack are L&T up by (3.56%) to Rs. 1,582.05, along with IICICI Bank by (3.32%) to Rs. 721.9, Sterlite Industries by (2.37%) at Rs. 590.45, DLF by (2.36%) at Rs.325.3, ACC Limited by (2.14%) at Rs. 798.7 and Reliance Communication Limited by (1.86%) at Rs. 306.05.

Gainers from the NSE Nifty Pack are Tata communication surged by (4.58%) at Rs. 479.05 along with Suzlon energy by (3.70%) at Rs. 121.95, L&T by (3.31%) at Rs. 1,580, ICICI Bank by (3.19%) at Rs. 722.3, Cairn India Limited by (2.70%) at Rs. 229.8 and SAIL by (2.67%) at Rs. 151.7.

BSE CG is trading higher by (2.41%) or 303.32 points at 12,882.38. The major gainers are Areva surged by (3.65%) at Rs. 344.60 along with L&T by (3.56%) at Rs. 1,582.05, Alstom project by (3.07%) at Rs. 507.10, Walchand Industries by (2.71%) at Rs. 216.40 followed by Praj Industries by (2.43%) at Rs. 99.

BSE Realty is trading higher by (2.21%) or 72.37 points at 3,340.66. The top gainers in the index are Indiabul Real by (3.55%) to Rs. 211.60 along with Anant Raj by (3.50%) to Rs. 97.60, Housing Dev by (3%) to Rs. 233.30, followed by DLF Limited by (2.36%) to Rs. 325.3.
