Markets Gains Supplementary Position - May 29, 2009

The markets are still trading with healthy gains led by strong buying witnessed across the board. Further the positive opening of the European markets also supported the markets. The oil & gas stocks jumped today backed by news from the oil ministry that the government is considering deregulation of oil prices.

Also, the GDP for the fourth quarter of the current fiscal that stood at 5.8% from a year earlier, gives a further boost to the investors sentiments. However, the GDP for the current fiscal 2008-09 as a whole was down 6.7% as against the previous projection of 7.1%. The previous fiscal GDP was 8.8%.

Further the buying interest also continued among the Realty, Capital Goods, Metal and Auto stocks. The BSE Sensex is now trading above the 14,700 mark and the NSE Nifty above the 4,450 mark.

The overall market breadth is positive as 2235 stocks are advancing while 512 stocks are declining in BSE.

ACC reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading up by (9.39%) at Rs. 789 while Sun Pharma reported the top loser trading down by (9.13%) at Rs. 1,198.

BSE Sensex is at 14,712.28 up by 416.27 points and Nifty is at 4,481.80 up by 144.70 points.

The BSE Mid Cap is trading higher by 147.57 points at 5,083.13 and the BSE Small Cap increased by 196.26 points to 6,007.95.

The Realty index is trading with strong gains of 190.23 points or 5.32% at 3,768.17. Pushing it are Ansal Infra trading up by 9.98% at Rs67.75 along with Phoenix Mill by 9.97% at Rs137.90, Orbitco by 9.34% at Rs171, Omaxe by 8.55% at Rs105.35, Unitech by 7.48% at Rs81.95, Indiabull Real by 7.07% at Rs241.50, Anant Raj inds by 4.98% at Rs127.45, Parsvnath by 4.99% at Rs96.80, Akruti City by 4.83% at Rs492.95 and DLF by 4.65% at Rs389.30.

The Oil and Gas is trading higher 470.99 points or 4.67% at Rs10,556.86. Gainers from this pack are HPCL trading up by 11.99% at Rs375.55 followed by IOCL by 11.03% at Rs632.80, Cairn India by 7.77% at Rs235, BPCL by 7.33% at Rs481, Gail India by 7.11% at Rs306.70, ONGC by 6.83% at Rs1208, RNRL by 4.80% at Rs84, RPL by 3.61% at Rs143.55 and Reliance industries by 3.54% at Rs2298.50.

The most active shares on NSE are Unitech trading at Rs 82.35 with a total traded quantity of 89424764 shares followed by Suzlon Energy trading at Rs.95.70 with a total traded quantity of 41346866 shares.

On the global markets front, the European markets are trading higher as the FTSE 100, DAX and CAC 40 index are trading up by (1.20%), (1.22%) and (1.28%) respectively.

IVRCL Infrastructures & Projects Limited has posted a net profit of Rs 798.823 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2009 as compared to Rs 733.028 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2008. Total Income has increased from Rs 13227.416 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2008 to Rs 16359.305 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2009.
