Investors Turned Cautious - May 05, 2009

After a cautious start, the Indian benchmark indices are now trading volatile as investors are choosing to book some profits after yesterday''s splendid surge. Besides lack of news in the domestic arena and concern about the financial health of US bank also weigh on sentiments. On a stock specific news, Jubilant Organosys trading firm inclined by nearly 11% after signing a research deal with Astra Zenca for neuroscience related drugs.

During the last hours'' trading session, buying interest has emerged across Realty and Capital Goods stocks, whereas IT and FMCG counters are trading in red territory. Among the BSE sectoral indices, Realty and Capital Goods stocks surged by 6.52% and 2.95% respectively whereas IT and FMCG stocks registered a fall of 1.62% and 0.99% respectively.

Overall the market breadth is negative as 1328 stocks are trading in green while 628 stocks are in red.

The BSE Sensex is marginal up by 2.02 points at 12,136.77 while NSE Nifty down by 2.8 points at 3,651.2. Besides, the BSE Mid Cap and Small Cap are trading higher by 54.38 points and 64.27 points at 3,705.68 and 4,145.98 respectively.

Gainers from the BSE Sensex Pack are DLF Ltd up by (5.69%) to Rs. 247.05, along with Tata Steel Ltd by (5.55%) to Rs. 277.6, ICICI Bank by (5.52%) at Rs. 558.25, Reliance Communication by (4.56%) at Rs. 239.6, Tata Motors by (4.06%) at Rs. 267.65 and Reliance Infrastructure by (4.04%) at Rs.779.4.

Losers from the NSE Nifty Pack are HDFC declined by (4.23%) at Rs. 1882 along with HCL Tech by (2.40%) at Rs. 150.55, ITC Ltd by (2.21%) at Rs.201.1, Mahindra & Mahindra by (2.10%) at Rs. 534.35, Infosys Tech by (1.90%) at Rs. 1,597.2 and Wipro Ltd by (1.35%) at Rs. 360.6.

BSE Realty is trading higher by (6.52%) or 145.83 points at 2,381.92. The top gainers in the index are Unitech Ltd surged by (10.36%) to Rs.54.35 along with Sobha Developers by (7.47%) to Rs. 110.75, Penland Ltd by (6.25%) to Rs. 38.25, Indiabull real estate by (5.91%) to Rs. 140.70, Ansal Infra by (5.71%) to Rs. 35.20, followed by DLF Ltd by(5.69%) to Rs. 247.055.

BSE IT is trading lower by (1.62%) or 46.84 points at 2,840.20. The major losers are HCL Tech dipped by (2.30%) at Rs. 150.60 along with Infosys Tech by (2.10%) at Rs. 1595, Wipro Ltd by (1.33%) at Rs. 359.75 followed by TCS Ltd by (1.28%) at Rs. 658.65.
