The markets are still trading higher as strong buying continued among the Realty, Capital Goods, Banking and IT stocks. However, the Metal and Pharma index have given up their early gains and are now trading marginally lower. Both the BSE Mid Cap and the BSE Small Cap index are now trading with a gain of more than 2% each.
The BSE Sensex is now trading around the 11,200 mark and the NSE Nifty is trading around the 3,450 mark.
The overall market breadth is positive as 1665 stocks are advancing while 838 stocks are declining in BSE.
L&T reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading up by (7.16%) at Rs. 891 while Hindalco Industries reported the top loser down by (3.37%) at Rs. 55.95.
At 2.37PM BSE Sensex is at 11,185.33 up by 237.93 points and Nifty is at 3,439.20 up by 69.70 points.
The BSE Mid Cap is higher by 80.93 points at 3,519.66 and the BSE Small Cap increased by 74.67 points to 4,003.66.
The Realty index is trading with handsome gains of 140.84 points or 6.70% at 2,241.58. Leading the rally are Unitech trading up by 19.61% at Rs51.85 along with Parsvnath by 12.45% at Rs52.85, Mahindralife by 11.33% at Rs197, Anant Raj Inds by 10% at Rs73.15, HDIL by 8.04% at Rs134.40, Omaxe by 6.19% at Rs59.15, Penland by 4.32% at Rs32.60, Sobha Developers by 3.68% at Rs101.30, Orbitco by 2.61% at Rs74.60 and Phoenix Mill by 2.37% at Rs97.30.
The Capital Goods index is trading higher 352.15 points or 4.61% at 7,997.66. Gainers from this pack are Areva trading up by 7.98% at Rs229.90 in line with SKF India by 7.48% at Rs184, L&T by 6.87% at Rs888.65, AIA Engineering by 5.32% at Rs175.10, Thermax Ltd by 4.80% at Rs234.55, Suzlon Energy by 4.54% at Rs58.70, Crompton Greaves by 4.38% at Rs157.35 and Gammon India by 4.28% at Rs78.
The most active shares on NSE are Unitech trading at Rs.51.95 with a total traded quantity of 128920525 shares followed by Suzlon Energy trading at Rs.58.60 with a total traded quantity of 50804240 shares.
Power Finance Corporation is trading up by 8.75% at Rs157.20. The Company has posted a net profit of Rs 3905.838 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2009 as compared to Rs 2954.006 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2008. Total Income has increased from Rs 13668.527 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2008 to Rs 18192.720 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2009.
On the global markets front, the European markets are trading marginally higher as the FTSE 100 and the DAX index are trading up by (0.09%) and (0.14%).
