Markets Are Now Trading Higher - April 10, 2009

The markets are now trading higher after a sharp volatile session. The positive opening of the European markets also lifted the sentiments the further. The Realty, Metal, Banking, Consumer Durables and Capital Goods stocks are on the buyer’s ride today. However the FMCG stocks are facing the selling pressure. The broader markets, however, continued to outperform the benchmarks.

The BSE Mid Cap and the Small Cap index are now trading with a gain of more than 2% each.

The BSE Sensex is now trading above the 10,850 mark and the NSE Nifty is trading above the 3,350 mark.

The overall market breadth is positive as 1741 stocks are advancing while 754 stocks are declining in BSE.

Jai Prakash Associate reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading up by (8.82%) at Rs. 115.40 while HUL reported the top loser down by (3.32%) at Rs. 232.80.

At 2.34PM BSE Sensex is at 10,886.18 up by 143.84 points and Nifty is at 3,374.55 up by 31.60 points.

The BSE Mid Cap is higher by 67.70 points at 3,370.29 and the BSE Small Cap increased by 76.71 points to 3,782.68.

The Realty index is trading with significant gains of 108.96 points or 5.63% at 2,045.37. Leading the rally are Anant Raj Inds trading up by 10.52% at Rs60.40 along with Unitech by 9.66% at Rs43.15, DLF by 5.52% at Rs223.70, Mahindra Life by 5.17% at Rs174, Sobha Dev by 4.52% at Rs98.30, Omaxe by 4.32% at Rs56.75, Ansal Infra by 3.88% at Rs32.10, HDIL by 3.87% at Rs120.85 and Parsvnath by 3.37% at Rs46.

The Metal index is trading higher by 223.31 points or 3.41% at 6,780.93. Gainers from this pack are Jai Corp trading up by 9.97% at Rs129 along with JSW Steel by 8.28% at Rs331, Jindal Steel by 7.47% at Rs1,403.50, Sesa Goa by 5.96% at Rs112.85, Tata Steel by 5.30% at Rs255.35, Jindal Saw by 4.54% at Rs219.95, Gujarat NRE Coke by 4.11% at Rs25.35 and Sterlite Inds by 3.06% at Rs395.50.

The most active shares on NSE are Unitech trading at Rs.43 with a total traded quantity of 105222417 shares followed by JP Associate trading at Rs.115.35 with a total traded quantity of 44798059 shares.

On the global markets front, the European markets are trading higher as FTSE 100 and DAX index are trading up by (0.04%) and (0.73%) respectively.
