Extending further losses, the major Indian bourses are trading in discount amidst weak Asian markets. The expiry of April series derivative contracts and two continuous holidays in this week made traders cautious about taking any fresh position in the market. On a stock specific news, Aban Offshore sheds another 6% due to poor quarterly performance. During the last hours'' trading session, selling pressure has been persistent across sectors like Metal, Power and FMCG, whereas buying interest has seen across consumer durables counter. Among the BSE sectoral indices Metal, Power and FMCG stocks dipped by 2.03%, 1.60% and 1.44% respectively. Overall the market breadth is negative as 1269 stocks are trading in red while 683 stocks are in green.
At 11.30 AM, the BSE Sensex down by 126.63 points at 11,245.21 while NSE Nifty declined by 49.84 points at 3,420.15. Besides, the BSE Mid Cap and Small Cap are trading lower by 26.88 points and 36.75 points at 3,557.39 and 3,990.38 respectively.
Losers from the BSE Sensex Pack are Sterlite Industries down by (4.65%) to Rs. 396, along with ICICI Bank by (3.22%) to Rs. 452.9, Tata Steel by (3.33%) at Rs. 245, Bharti Airtel by (2.73%) at Rs. 722.5, Tata Motors by (2.31%) at Rs. 243 and HDFC by (2.29%) at Rs. 1762.5.
Losers from the NSE Nifty Pack are Sterlite Industries declined by (3.54%) at Rs. 401.4 along with PNB by (3.12%) at Rs. 506.85, Power Grid Corporation by (3.10%) at Rs. 93.75, HCL Tech by (2.90%) at Rs. 123.9, Bharti Airtel by (2.80%) at Rs. 722.85 and Tata Communication by (2.64%) at Rs. 530.95.
BSE Metal is trading lower by (2.03%) or 144.32 points at 6,952.82. The top losers in the index are Jai Corp declined by (5%) to Rs.175.80 along with Sesa Goa by (4.65%) to Rs. 115.95, Sterlite Industries by (4.65%) to Rs.396, followed by Tata Steel by (3.33%) at Rs. 245.
BSE Power is trading down by (1.60%) or 34.03 points at 2,094.26. The major losers are Suzlon Energy declined by (3.34%) at Rs. 62.20 along with Power Grid by (3.30%) at Rs. 93.70, GMR Infrastructure by (3.03%) at Rs. 110.25 followed by GVK Power by (2.47%) at Rs. 27.60.
