The markets continue its negative trend and open lower for the third consecutive day on the back of weak cues from the global markets. The Asian markets are also trading in deep red even though the people’s Bank of China has cut its interest rate on Monday. The selling pressure is witnessed among the Realty, Capital Goods, Metal, Auto, Power and Banking stocks.
The BSE Mid Cap and the Small Cap are also trading lower with a loss of above 1% each.
The BSE Sensex is now trading below the 9,800 mark and the NSE Nifty trading below the 3,000 mark.
The Asian markets are also trading lower as Nikkei, Hang Seng, Shanghai Composite and Seoul Composite index are trading lower by (2.54%), (0.26%), (0.67%) and (2.02%) respectively.
The US stock market on Tuesday ended lower as worries intensified that the government loans might not rescue the auto industry and some unwelcoming economic data do little to attract buyers into the market. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) dropped by 100.28 points to close at 8,419.49. The NASDAQ Composite (RIXF) index decreased by 10.81 points to close at 1,521.54 and the S&P 500 (SPX) fell 8.47 points to close at 863.16.
Wipro reported a top gainer among the BSE Sensex pack up by (4.69%) at Rs. 254.25 while Satyam Computer the top loser down by (16.38%) at Rs. 117.40.
The overall market breadth remains negative as 371 stocks are advancing while 959 stocks are declining on BSE.
At 10.33AM, the BSE Sensex was down by 168.24 points at 9,760.11 and the Nifty was down by 47.15 points to 2,992.15.
The BSE Mid Cap decreased by 42.38 points to 3,217.41 and the BSE Small Cap slipped by 44.60 points to 3,690.35.
BSE Realty index is trading lower by 98.32 points or (4.09%) to trade at 2,308.06. The top losers are Unitech decreased by (8.04%) to Rs.38.90, Ansal Infra down by (5.64%) to Rs.31.80, HDIL declined by (4.47% to Rs.139.05 followed by Omaxe Ltd. fell (4.12%) to Rs. 61.70.
BSE Metal index is trading lower by 93.40 points or (1.80%) to trade at 5,095.02. The major losers are Ispat Industries declined by (2.89%) to Rs. 11.78, SAIL down by (2.70%) to Rs.75.60, JSW Stell decreased by (2.32%) to Rs.220.70 followed by Jindal Saw fell (2.38%) to Rs.226.
Wipro is trading higher by (0.44%) at Rs.488.05. The cement maker has indefinitely put on hold the Rs 600-crore expansion programme of its ready-mix concrete (RMC) business ACC Concrete, due to poor demand in the domestic market.
