Market Extend Its Losses IT Index Hit Indices Prevailed - Dec 05, 2008

The market extends is losses to trade on the backfoot as the selling pressures across the sectoral indices prevailed. The investors are taking calculative steps to book their positions tracking the week cues from the global markets. Though the market makes some recovery after the initial fall but did not able to sustain the momentum as the profit booking across the counters prevails. The investors are eyeing at the meeting of the Reserve Bank Of India in there are expectations that bank could lower the interest rates and announce a stimulus plan to give a boost to the economy. From the sectoral from, the IT index is worst hit as it is down by more than 4% along with Consumer Durables, Oil & Gas and Metal that are down by more than 3% each.

On the global market front, the European Markets are trading in negative as Dax Index is trading lower by 2.86% and FTSE 100 down by 1.75%.

The broader markets are trading in week as the BSE Mid Cap and Small Cap are trading with good losses of 21.52 points or (0.74%) and 1.89 points or (0.06%) at 2,901.28 and 3,329.91 respectively.

The overall market breadth is negative as 1003 stocks are declining while 955 stocks are advancing in BSE.

JP Associates reported the top loser from the BSE Sensex pack. It is trading down by (6.83%) at Rs.66.20 along with Infosys by 5.75% at Rs 1126.

At 2.36 PM BSE Sensex is at 8,955.32 lower by 274.43 points and NSE Nifty is at 2,714.15 down by 73.85 points.

The BSE IT index is trading with losses of 116.38 points or (4.72%) at 2,348.26. Pulling it are Infosys trading lower by 5.61% at Rs1127.70 along with TCS by 5.05% at Rs522, Rolta India by 4.98% at Rs146, NIIT by 4.10% at Rs 23.40, Aptech by 3.90% at Rs61.55, Patni Comp by 2.76% at Rs133.75, Wipro by 2.32% at Rs227.

The most active shares on NSE are Unitech trading at Rs.30.85 with a total traded quantity of 83966229 shares followed by Suzlon Energy trading at Rs.42.60 with a total traded quantity of 40689704 shares.
