The markets today open significantly higher on the back of strong global cues as Barack Obama, is elected as the 44th US President. The Realty, Banking, Consumer Durables, Power, Capital Goods and Metal stocks are on the buyers ride in the early trade. However, the Oil & Gas index is trading lower in the opening trade. The BSE Mid Cap and the Small Cap are also trading in line with the benchmark inedex with a gain of more than 2% each.The Asian markets are also trading firm as Nikkei, Hang Seng and the Straight Times index are trading higher by 2.43%, 5.65% and 4.42% respectively.
The BSE Sensex is now trading above the 10,700 mark and the NSE Nifty above the 3,150 mark.It was Election Day on US yesterday. The US stock market on Tuesday surged on the Election Day on the back of some better than expected quarterly earnings results, improvement in the credit market and a report that the a broader range of financial firms may receive investments from the Treasury. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) surged by 305.45 points to close at 9,625.28. The NASDAQ Composite (RIXF) index increased by 53.79 points to close at 1,780.12 and the S&P 500 (SPX) advanced 39.45 points to close at 1,005.75.
The overall market breadth is positive as 1225 stocks are advancing whereas 383 stocks are declining on BSE.DLF reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading with a gain of (5.12%) at Rs.305 while Reliance Industries reported the top loser down by (1.67%) at Rs.1,430.95.
The Indian Rupee opened at Rs 47.19 per dollar as against Rs.47.69 of yesterday. The rupee went up in opening on expectations that the stock market may rise for a sixth successive session and attract foreign inflows.
At 10.33AM, the BSE Sensex was up by 151.08 points at 10,782.20 and the Nifty was up by 28.15 points to 3,170.25.The BSE Mid Cap increased by 78.93 points to 3,525.15 and the BSE Small Cap advanced by 91.16 points to 4,126.27.
BSE Realty index is trading higher by 70.37 points or (2.93%) to trade at 2,472.81. The top gainers are India Bull Real increased by (6..41%) to Rs.152, Sobha Developers up by (5.40%) to Rs.126, Mahindra Life inclined by (4.84%) to Rs.201.60 followed by Parsavnath grew by (4.70%) to Rs.52.30.
BSE Bank index advanced by 136.98 points to trade at 5,878.02. The major gainers are Kotak Bank inclined by (5.87%) to Rs.446.60, ICICI Bank up by (3.90%) to Rs.477, PNB increased by (3.48%) to Rs.502.90 followed by HDFC Bank grew by (3%) to Rs.1,144.05.
